spitting up / gas question
posted 25th Jun
when is spitting up / gas considered enough that I should maybe call my pediatrician and possibly switch formula? My daughter spits up at almost every feeding...it's usually curdled which my MIL says means she got the nutrients out of it, but sometimes it's quite a lot of spit up. twice since she's been born it's been projectile. sometimes it's even as much as an hour after she's eaten that she spits up. she's also very gasy. it doesn't seem to bother her most of the time, but sometimes it does. i use the mylicon drops and they usually make her quit fussing, but obviously she gets gassier. I'm just wondering should I call her dr? I don't want to seem like the over-concerned parent if this is all pretty normal. My son is 7 so it's been a looong time since I've had to deal with baby issues and I've forgotten it all! Any advice/help/similar stories would be appreciated

I would call to be safe. My nephew used to spit up half of a bottle, poor little guy. It could be the bottle, the formula or he could have acid reflux...

I would contact your babies doctor. I was dealing with the same issues with my little girl. I took her into her doctor and she thought just that, I am just a concerned first time mom. She told me that she is a lil colicky that it is very common for babies to be and that she would grow out of it. I took her word for it but ended up switching doctors come her 4 month app. cuz I didn't like the other one. Come to find out she has acid reflux, so this whole timemy lil girlhas been suffering bc her first pedi. didn't look into the issues we were having....

try switching her formula. i switched my daughter to target brand in the purple can for gassy/fussy babies and she seems to be doing really well on that. its the same as the enfamil gentleese and its only $14 a can instead of $26. you can also go to walmart and get the parents choice formula for gassy babies. it works well too.

I would call her pedi!
She may have reflux?
We had similar problems with my son. We switched his formula to sensitive.
But dont do anything without consulting your(her) pedi.

Thanks for your input mamas. I am getting a little concerned, especially since she's mainly breastfeed, only gets maybe 1-2 bottles of formula a day. I'll call her dr. and see what he says.
