Stripping Membranes...

SO my Doc says at my next appointment she will strip them to speed things up a bit if I haven't progressed. What exactly do they do?

Ok so I have read about it...I want to know if it works? Anyone have it done and actually gone into labor?

I had it done at my last appt. and it didnt hurt me it was just uncomfortable. I didnt go in labor either   but maybe thats just me.

I was 6 days late with my son and my doctor Stripped my membranes with his finger and told me that should speed up labor but he made an appt for me to be induced the next day. The stripping of my membranes didn't really start my labor it just dialated me a little bit.

that shit doesnt hurt but it doesnt feel good and it didnt work for me because she did it 3 times and it didnt do anything besides make me bleed and cramp a little bit... the doctor takes their hand puts it inside you like if you were being checked to see how dialated you are then she uses her nails and goes "1,2,3" and while saying that she scrapes your cervixs...

My doc stripped mine and I went into delivery 4 days later.

Well, I dont know if she did that me or not but she said she stretched me, and that I would bleed all day... and I did... and since then I think I have lost my plug.... so maybe I did get striped, but I go tomorrow and we are going to talk INDUCTION.... my favorite word at this time.... haha! keep me posted on your progress
