42wks

i heard that your pregnant for 42wks. The first two weeks doesnt count so it totatls to 40wks... does anyone know how that works?

A "textbook" pregnancy is 40 weeks, 38 weeks from conception to your due date...

the 2 'not counted' weeks are included in a 40 week pregnancy.

Yeah... its 40 weeks... 38 actually being prego.... BUT, the baby is considered full term from like 37 to 42 weeks... or something like that... makes you wonder who come up with this calender...

40 weeks is "normal". And the first two weeks you indeed are not pregnant (they count since your lmp -- and usually you ovulate14 days afteryou menstruate).

38 to 42 weeks is still considered a "term" pregnancy. Creating a human is not a procedure that progresses the same for everyone or even for your different pregnancies.

My 1st one went 42 weeks~but I went 2 weeks over my due dat~ I was due 5/7/01 & I had her @ 7/p on 5/20/01

thanks i was super confused on that one. Im due october 25th but having my lil boy sep 18th through the 26th. I was like hmmmm well if its 42wks 35 would be to early. Thankfully thats clear.

Why are you delivering a month+ early?

because i found out i had and incompatent cervix on 5-21 and had to get an emergency cerclage. My pelvis bone is smaller than mostso my doctor wants to take out the stiches at 35 to 36wks. Im hoping i can go naturally past 36wks he would get bigger and i would need a c-section. either way i will be fine with it. The way hes growing we are looking at 35wks but i will know more the end of july when i start going once a week. i see my doctor every other week and things are looking good.

So if your cervix will hold after the cerclage is removed, your doctor will let you go further?

yup i was told after they are out it takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days for the baby to come. so i will have to wait until he is ready. I get them taken out a day after my b-day and on my lil sisters b-day so if he wants to take a few days that would be awesome.

Gotcha. Well hopefully your cerclage hold until then and your baby waits a little while after. Preemies are no fun.
