He can enroll you in DEERS and Tricare from any base just like getting the ID. He doesnt have to do it at any specific base.

My husband just went in to basic training and im went thru what your going thru... i recieved my DEERs paper or what ever then i went to get my id( dont forget TWO forms of id!!!!) i did and well i had to go back again. but before i got my id i was able to go to the Tricare office place at the base (lackland) and i was able to enroll for tricare. it technically starts the first day that your husband is active duty... i was able to eroll for tricare prime so i can go on base to a OB GYN rather than Tricare standard and go off base and have to pay a co pay... hope you get everything sorted out ASAP i missed my appt this month too because of this crap...

Standard can be seen on base as well. Just because you are on standard that doesnt mean you automatically go off base. Also, on base there are not any co-pays no matter what you are on. The difference is Standard is space avaliable basis (basically if the doctor "wants" another patient) and Prime is not. We are on Prime and my son was sent off base for his surgery and when I went into preterm labor when I was pregnant with him I was sent off base. Its not 100% certain you will be seen on base 100% of the time.

Your right. im going to Wilford Hall, at Lackland AFB i went to the Tricare office they told me i would need to find a Dr off base if i stayed on Standard because Standard is not a priority at Wilford Hall you MAY need to go off base and have to pay a co-pay if seen at a 'off base' DR. If seen on Base its free. This is what they told me when i called Tricare for the southern region and also at the Tricare office at Wilford. I upgrated to Prime so that i could be seen on base since it is closer for me than going to the medical center or Brooks Army base. Just Depends on where you are and how close you are to the local Base hospital. If they know your pregnant and how far along you are then they will try to get you in sooner... i had an appointment for them to do just paper work and getting all my info from my other Dr. on the 16th of June and then they scheduled a actual Dr appointment for my glucose test on the 11th of july. Hopefully you are able to get seen soon!

Quoting lilmama68:“ okay well my husband was going to sign me up and all that for my insurance today. he talked to someone ... [snip!] ... already missed my 6 month apt. so can someone tell me something to reasure me that im not going to have to wait even longer!!”
It took me awhile to get the story straight and signed up. I missed my 6 month appt. too! Finally my hubby & I had to go to the medical center on base to sign up, we both had papers to sign. I brought our marriage license but didn't need it. The only thing is, that in order for me to see a doctor I had to go to a primary care doctor first and get a referral to an OBGYN. So your appt. you made might not even work. The good news is, once you sign that paper your covered so its just a matter of getting the referral. Good luck.
