I know someone should have a trick ! !

posted 24th Jun
Ok my son had surgery last week to take out his adnoids and tonsils. Well they left one of those heart monitor pads on him and I cant get it off without ripping his skin. When they discharged him theyRIPPED the ones off his chest, yes RIPPED the ones on his chest off so he is now traumatized. Im sure they tried the band-aid just do it fast attempt, but he remembers and crys if I even mention taking it off. Ive tried baby oil, alcohol, soap, lotion and nail polish remover. I swear the damn thing wont come off. Its gunna be a week tomorrow he's had it on there and its dark around the edges from the dirt and adhesive. I told him its gunna stay on forever and it will only hurt for a little bit but he gives me that face and I just cant get myself to do it. So does anyone have ideas, remedies....SOMETHING to help me out!?!?! Its driving me nuts and I need help.....PLEASE ! !

I've used them alot...I hate to say it, but if a hot bath won't help, then you just have to rip them off. The slower the more painful. Alcohol will help with the sting, and usually makes it easier to come off, but you still just kinda gotta rip it off

I just looked on lifehacker and you can remove bandaids with vodka, dissolves the adhesive, might be worth a try for the heart monitor pads too.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe try to get it off while he is immersed in water.

oil can help break down the goopy goo and stickiness of some adhesives.. and olive oil is natural and shouldnt irritate his skin

Maybe heating it up a little with a hair dryer, then using alcohol on a q-tip under it. It might work

Definetly tried the hot bath and soap and just doing it slowly, kind of easing it but i swear the sucker is like glued on. Id take him back but hes already traumatized of the hospital. Ill try the olive oil tonight, I swear this poor kid is gunna have a 3rd nipple forever.
