I had a late baby shower

posted 23rd Jun
So I'm almost 37 weeks and I just had my baby shower a week ago. You know how you don't buy stuff assuming you'll get it at the shower? All I got was clothes, and a crib set. Seriously. NO baby shampoos or washes, no powders, diaper rash ointments, no feeding bottle set. NOTHING besides clothes basically. My doc thinks since I'm already dialated to 2 and 50% effaced that I'll probably pop in the next week- week and a half. So I am freakin out. I thought after the shower, that I'd be sooo much more prepared, but I didn't get soo much as a freakin binky! I did registeries on Walmart and babies r us and target and NO ONE shopped off the registry. The only reason why I got the crib was because my mom knew we needed it, and couldn't afford one right now with my husband on workman's comp, and me on bed rest. So I"m stressed, I didn't get any necessities from the shower, not even a gift card to buy the necessities. When I had a shower for my first kid, I got like 20 of everything. WTF? lol

I got mostly clothes too so I took them back and got some essentials instead. I am also not washing any clothes till we come home so I can take someback if she dosen't get to wear them.

man, I am sorry hun! I am having mine early for that very reason!

The only thing I can suggest is narrowing down one of your registries to things you REALLY need, like shampoo, onsies, etc, nothing on there that is optional, then compose an email to close family (I recommend mom most if she is the popular one like in my family) asking them for help getting the rest of the things you need. By using a simple list with one store, your close family/friends can help by passing the list around and hopefully you will get things you need. Also use this list for you to shop off of until the baby comes.

This may sound silly, but that is exactly what I have been told to do after my shower, my mom wants me to narrow it down and let her pass it around to family on her own, she is much closer to family and such.

again, good luck!!

Oh, I know how you feel! Same thing happened to me at my shower - I got all clothes and stuffed animals. Now, I know she needs clothes - but at the same time she needed bottles, diapers, wipes, monitors, etc. more! No one shopped off my registery.....

Good idea! I might do that. I'm kinda freaking out because there is 3 ladies pregnant at my job, so we are going to have one big shower... so I'm afraid I won't get much, since the attention will be split between the 3 of us. I've been kinda stressin latly.

BEWARE - Target SUCKS at returning things - if they sell it at Wal-Mart or BRU - I would advise you to exchange it there!

My work gave me a book shower - everyone brought baby books to fill a bookshelf!

That's the thing, I didn't put clothes on the registry at all, but we desperately needed them. My husband got hurt at work. He was off for 4 months, but workman's comp only paid him for 2 months. He had to have surgery for a double hernia. Anyway, we have like NO extra money at all now, haven't had any since he hasn't been working. So we need the clothes also that we got. We are just soooo not prepared for her yet, but I guess she's coming like it or not!

It's rediculous! 2 returns a year w/o receipt and no more than $20 each return! Grrrr...they make me mad! LOL
