what do i say?

I have a freind with a 7 week old. This past week she has been letting her baby CIO when she puts her to sleep. she said her baby cried for 13 min before she finally fell asleep! i think this is ridiculous. i have a 3 1/2 month old and i still dont let him CIO. My opinion babies only cry when they need something, plus when it comes to putting him to sleep I just wait until i can tell he's sleepy, put feed him and put him down and he falls right asleep.
What can i say? Should i just butt out and mind my own business?
I just think 7 weeks is way to young.

Its her child..
I agree she should be letting her child CIO yet..
But there really isnt anything you can do but shake your head.

i think you should let a baby cry and start early......cause if you hold the baby all day and night wait until the kids like 20 lbs...haha ......as long as the child has been feed and changed and you know its ok there is no harm in a baby crying

I guess. it just seems to me that the CIO method is usually only used when parents have run out of patience.

i think 7 weeks is a little young, but I don't see a problem with letting a baby CIO. 13 minutes isn't very long for a baby to cry. My son is 9 months old and he is on a set schedule and sometimes cried for longer than that. If the baby is fed, and changed and burped and all that good stuff then it's not going to hurt the baby. Melissa is right, you can only shake your head.

7 weeks is young but its her kid. my mother in law knows a women who is letting her 5 week old cry. i let gavin a week before 4 months per the doc and it helped so much. he cries less now and he is happier. but if it is only 13 min than thats great. gavin cried an hour then about 15 mins less each time.

My daughter was around2 monthswhen I let her CIO. I had to, i was a zombie and needed some sleep. She cried the first night for about 10 minutes and went to sleep. Since then I have never had a problem with her going to sleep. As long as I knew her tummy was full, diaper clean, and there was nothing else I could do, I would just let her cry. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. Sometimes babies cry just to cry.
