inducing with Cytotec..

so i was wondering if anyone else had their doctor give them this when they were induced...they gave it to me without warning me of anything..i read up on it and it is very dangerous and not fda approved for labor induction, it has actually been given to cause an abortion,...it can cause such horrible contractions that you can bleed to death, have a hysterectomy, or possibly it can kill your baby..i am so dissappointed in the hospital for allowing them to give it to women. When they gave it to me i really thought i was dying..the contrax were terrible, i had two w/out any meds and with this one i asked for them cause the pain was unbearable..and after i had her they had to give me pitocin to make my uterus go back down and to stop the bleeding..i bled so bad, there was a puddle leading to the bathroom, it took the nurse forever to get it all up and off of me...oh and i was anemic..how dumb are they to not notice that in my chart and try something else?..sorry just had to vent, i am still upset about it.

Did you consent to its use? I'd be raising a stink about it to prevent other women from suffering any complications.

the only thing i did was sign the paper to treat me which you sign when u first get to the hospital...and i trusted my midwife and doctor, i didn't think they were allowed to give you anything that wasn't fda approved, so at the time it never crossed my mind.

I was given it too..for my induction...they gave it to me on Monday night and started Pitocin the following morning. The combo of the two caused me to hyperstimulate. I had contractions back to back with no break in between...which caused my son's heartrate to decelerate. I went from 1 to 4cms in less than 30 minutes. It was UNBERABLE!...They had to shut the pitocin off....I didn't dilate past 7 cms (he was malpresenting) and ended up with a C-section after all the pain...

damn..they didn't give me pitocin til' after like they do with a section, but yea the contrax seemed to never let up...and i went from being dilated barely 5 to having her in my arms in less than an hour and a half...my whole labor was only 4 1/2 hours long..it was awful..i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

My doc wanted to give it to me, and after some research i told him flat out no. My labor with pitocin was 40 hours, and i still dont regret not taking it.

I signed a consent to treat form too, but I still had to sign a separate consent form for them to induce labor.

i wish i would of had time to read up on it..my induction wasn't planned or i would have..i went in cause i thought my water was leaking and it turned out it was and i really didn't know when it had started so they had to kinda hurry..that was at 3:30 pm and they had me walk and then gave it to me at 5:30 brokethe rest of my waterbag or whatever u wanna call it, at 6:45 and i had her at 10:08 pm...

nope they didn't have me sign anything else.

yea it sucked..i was so planning on having a waterbirth but since the pain was so bad, i got nubain therefore i had to stay in bed..not like i really wanted to move anyway, it seemed like if i moved my pinkie toe, i had a contraction..but i know if they would have just broken my water all the way and not give me the cytotec i would have gotten to have her in the tub.
