posted 23rd Jun
When did you guys start your kiddos on sippy cups i cause i just relized today that my son is almost 6 months old and we havent even though of getting a sippy. I cant remeber when i started with my other two. As my "baby" is fixing to turn 3   i know every baby is diffrent but i would just like feed back so i can jog my memory.

I started around 6 months and then by 11 months, both of my girls were off of bottles completely and just used sippy cups.

I would say anytime before 1 is too young~ they are usually still on formula. I switched my daughter to a sippy when she switched to regular milk. Just slowly ween off the bottle.

I let Neil play with his with tad of water in it at changing time since he was strong enough to hold onto it..... i never gave it to him to drink from until I could see him using it and trying to get the water out
I guess he would have been about 7m when he was really drinking fomr it.

6 months per WIC and Dr's suggestion.. We also introduced water and juice in a sippy cup at this time. I started cutting back on her formula at this time..

2 wks before her 1st birthday she was off the bottle/formula and happy to drink cows milk from a sippy cup.

i was actually thinking about trying to teach Hailee how to use the sippy cup soon. With Formula since she's only 3 months, but i guess thats not a good idea.
I was only considering it because my mother said that me and my brother were both using sippy cups at 2 months

at 2 months? I dont see any benefit from giving a 2-3 month old a sippie cup. lol

well when i was 2 months old the doctor told my mom to go home and throw out all the baby bottles and start me on the sippy cup.
im not to sure why though? which is why i was wondering when Hailee should be started on them. i'm definitely going to wait a lot longer lol

I know they can. From experience(with daycare kids) I had a 10 month old boy that got switched to a sippy & he kept tryng to drink out of it like it was a bottle & got nothing out of it, I had no bottle to fall back on for him. I also have a 16 month old girl that when she got switched to a sippy she quit drinking milk all together, the only thing she will drink is water. So all I can say is if you introduce new things (ie, sippies, potty training) It usually backfires & doesn't work out the way you hope. Bottom line~ every child is different & only you can make the call when to introduce something new.
