Pregnancy Plan at 20?!?!?!

posted 23rd Jun
Yesterday I finally got to hang out with some of my girlfriends, it was amazing! I missed them all so much. We went swimming and in the middle of swimming we got on the subject of me and Nic and our baby and how we want more kids. My friend Nicole was like "What? You're only 20!" I said well actually we have a set plan, we're going to try and get pregnant again in 2010, and that we are trying for 5 kids or until my 35th birthday. Whichever which one comes first, if it's 5kids he'll get snipped after that or on my 35th birthday! Nicole was like "OMG you'll be pregnant like every 2-3years" And I was just like "Yep that's the plan." She was shocked. I guess probably because I'm 20 and all that jazz, but I don't think I'm that young. Me and Nic just like to plan out where we're going and when, I don't think thats bad. But I have to admit sometimes I do think "Wow I'm missing out on my 21st birthday and all the partying" but then I look down at my belly and I know this is what I want. I'm so blessed and couldn't ask for more.
Anyone else have a plan like this? Or does anyone feel the way Nicole does, that I'm too young?

she's living with a youthful mind.. you're probably just more settled than she is.. lol i'm 20 as well, and i want my second child already.. but of course, can't happen.. we need a place of our own and a stable job after he gets his degree!

edit: if you and nic feel the same way then you're not too young.. at least in my opinion.. i think its great to have a young mom.. especially one that feels ready like you do.. lol

There are alot of people that have a plan. Most people now have their kids 2 years apart. When I was 20 I was dating my husband & we knew we wanted 4 kids & we wanted them @ least 2 years apart. Needless to say conceiving wasn't very easy & I was 24 when I had my daughter~ now 7 years later I was finally able to conceive again. They say it's a boy, but they were wrong with my daughter. If this is definately a boy, we are most likely done. I can't go through another 4 years of ttc & numerous neg tests! But a plan is just that~ @ least your not playing it by ear, you know what you want & even @ 20 there's nothing wrong with that.

I thik your a bit young, BUT you seem to have a handle on your goals and future together and as long as you guys have a plan for taking care of all these kids you'd like to have I don't see a big issue with it. I'm 26 and preg with #2, #1 is only a year old, and we'd like to have a couple more before I'm in my thirties as well. We're in the process of building our first house and we've been married for 4 years and hubby's an engineer. .............Good luck!

I feel like i'm too young to have a baby and I just turned 21 and yeah it did suck missing out on partying but I would never take it back because in a couple months I will be able to hold my son! but I know how you feel about trying to plan out the future ones! 20 is not too young to plan your life, its better to plan ahead

I'm 22 and 2 months along with my first. If you feel you've lived your life and had all your fun and got it out of your system it's all good. I drank from age 12 to 18 quite heavily- I considered myself an alcoholic. But then I got into the "other stuff" and the partying. I lived my life and I know I'm all done with it. I don't want that garbage anymore lol. Anyway the point i'm making is if you're ready to plan your family you'll know it. And I think you are ready for it. My fiance and I already have #2 planned for may of 2012
don't let what others say about it bother you. You're taking control of your life and doing something wonderful with it. <3 good luck!

Yeah I'm 17 and we are having one every two-three years 'until we get our girl' <-- we say that but I know that if our next one is a girl, that wont be it. Once we are done building our house this year, we are going to TTC #2. This is exactly how I want my life to be!

Thanks ladies. Nic graduates from college the fall of '09 that's another reason why we're waiting a bit. He's going to be a High School social studies teacher. He works 2 jobs right now and goes to school fulltime. We know what hard work is and what we need to do to get what we want! I just think people look at our age and automatically think we can't do it.

Are any of your friends married or headed towards marriage? I think it makes a huge difference when you have alot of single friends~ they have no idea. When I was single I thought my friend was crazy for getting married really young & wanting babies right away, then I met my husband. I was 20 & he was 29. We were both ready to settle down & have a family~ we actually ttc before we got married. We dated for 3 years before we got married & 4 months later I found out I was pregnant~ I was sooo excited. So there is a difference between how your married friends will feel & how single friends will feel.

I'm 18 and quite mature (with a raw sense of humor), but lots of people our age arent as mature and settled down. Some people at this age: getting married, having children, being happy not being wild: is completely strange for them to do, but I say if you're mature enough and stable enough and have a ton of love to offer, why the heck not!

It is MUCHHHH better to have a plan and talk to your spouse about it rather than getting pregnant by surprise. Most people who have never had kids would never have a plan like this until they actually do have a kid. I was the same way before I had my baby. She was a HUGE surprise so now we HAVE to talk about it and make sure we know when we can and want to have another one. It's just being mature really and also it's somethin that's gonna come natural to talk about once you start w/ your first one... well it was for us anyway.

oooooh honey let me tell you, I had all of my kids in my early 20's and it's SO MUCH EASIER when you're young! Now that I'm on in my years, pregnancy is much tougher. It's best to get all your 'birthin' out of the way early in life.

I totally agree with you~ my 1st pregnancy was very easy (no sickness @ all)~ I was 23. This time around I feel more achy & tired & I was sick the entire 1st trimester.~ I just turned 31 in june. I just told my husband last night I have no clue how I worked 8 hours a day in a factory when I was pregnant with our daughter~ This one is whipping my butt
