Quoting KJzinger:“ Ok, so I failed my glucose tests and have GD. I got my blood monitor and a light example diet, I go to ... [snip!] ... after dinner check they will be 100-117. Do they need to remain the same or is it as long as they are below the max it's ok?”
Mine went up gradually throughout the day, starting about 70 like you, and ending at about 130. They told me the safe range was about 90-120 after a meal. Just a few points higher is not much of a concern. They did tell me not to drive if my sugar is under 70, because I was prone to passing out.
You'll be fine, just cut back on the desserts, the soda, and juice. I used Sweet-n-low in place of real sugar, and increased my lean meats and veggies. That seemed to keep me in check.
I limited myself to one sugary dessert per day, and one soda, but not at the same time.
Be wary of Gatorade, it would send my sugar through the roof. I had to stop drinking it.
You will be fine
It's not as bad as it sounds. I made it, and only ended up with an 8 pound 4 ounce baby. Not too bad.
