Crippling Lower Back Pain
posted 22nd Jun
I consider myself to be able to tough out pain, but for the last week now I have been in pain that I did not know existed.
I have constant lower back pain (right side) that makes me A) fall over or B) feel momentarily paralyzed. It happens in certain positions when adjusting how I sit or lie in bed, when I walk up or down stairs, and when Im at almost any angle that is not standing or lying.
Ive also begun to get major swelling in the last week that I never before experienced. After bign up for only an hour or two, im swollen and it hurts to walk. Other symptoms...shooting foot pains that have been constant in last week.
If anyone has any insight I would be very grateful. This last week has brought on hell for me. Its hard to walk to the bathroom, do laundry or cleaning, sleep...day to day activities. I am 31 weeks btw. I did call my on call nurse and am waiting to hear what she says, as well.
Thanks in advance!

You gotta remember how much your hips spread before that baby comes. With this pregnancy I got a pinched nerve in my hip that went to my lower back. I totally understand the crippling bak pain, and it always hurts the most when you first get up to move around. Talk about feeling old. The swelling totally normal, and warm weather makes it so much worse. I am almost 36 weeks and I start swelling when I have only been on my feet for a few minutes.

I have this all the time. i have a herniated disk in my lower back. Since I've been pregnant though it seems to be a lot worse. My Dr prescribed me tylonal 3s so that I can be comfortable at night. He also wrote me a prescription for physical therapy which is like heaven! lol i get to lay on a hot pack for a half hour and then get a massage and then the therapist stretches my back out. It usually helps me for a couple hours lol not long but at least its some relief

I'm on bed rest for my back (since i was 32 weeks now 35). I had two prior back injuries that are horrible to deal with these days. Doc gave vicodin and muscle relaxers for night time, but i feel guilty taking them, plus they make me not go number two for DAYS, so i dont take them. Navy wont pay for massages, and physical therapy guys say they cant do anything for me. Life is painful ...lol! Oh and I also go a prenatal cradle that REALLY helps when I have to go to the grocery store or have to walk for any amount of time. My left arm is numb right now...feet are two times bigger than normal it seems and when i walk my right leg will sometimes go out from underneath me. Mornings really ARE the worst, but it hurts all the time. Cant wait until i feel human again!!
