What are some healthy snacks I can prepare before the little one comes to have handy when I am breast feeding. I know cut up fruit and veggies, but any others??

I always have granola bars and fruit snacks handy. Not as healthy as fresh fruits and veggies, but they'll do in a pinch and take no time to prepare.

i always buy all bran bites..the strawberryones....super good for ya...and also fibre 1 bars...omg theyre like eating chocolate bars i swear i could eat like 4. yogurt tubes(handsfree pretty much) veggies are always good, boil some eggs if you like them...i could eat boiled eggs everyday. make sure you peel them and keep them in water in your fridge though, bacteria can grow in them if you leave them in their shells. Get some/make some smoothie pops just get popsicle moulds and pour some pureed fruit mixed with yourt into them and freeze em. beef jerky is good if you get the 100 calorie packs...lots of protien and hardly any fat......hmmm if i think of anything els ei ll post some more.

Lowfat yogurt for me... My dh made me a sandwich with fresh fruit everyday for the past 5 weeks... & kept it in the fridge for when I am ready to eat...

Oh, I also liked eating dry cereal too..Go Lean Crunch by Kashi is one of my favorites. Popscicles are yummy too, especially during this hot weather but they aren't all that good for you, lol.

Ok this may be a stupid question, but why the snacks b/c you are breastfeeding? Like do you get hungry while you are doing it or does it help your supply? I know you're supposed to drink lots of water but didn't know you're supposed to bring snacks with you... just wondering!

I do tend to get hungry while I'm breastfeeding or pumping. Also, because time is so limited after having a baby that getting two things done at once is a good thing. I usually eat lunch while pumping/breatsfeeding because I know I may not get the chance to otherwise. Plus, my son takes FOREVER to eat so having a snack handy is nice.

You burn hundreds if not thousands of calories each time you breast feed, so you need to replace it some how!

Hahaha, I only wish it was thousands, then I could get rid of this last 20 pounds. You burn around 300-500 calories a day total when you breastfeed, not each time - each day. I really wish it was your way though, lol.

Your baby will need to eat every two hours, 24 hours a day for the first 3 weeks.... Think about that for a second... and try to imagine when you will have time to go to the bathroom... because after a 1/2 hour feeding, you have 1 1/2 hours left before your feeding baby again and you are exhausted because you get no REM sleep... For my first pregnancy, I literally lived on yogurt. I didn't have the energy to make anything to eat. For my second pregnancy, my dh makes me food to eat everyday... it works out really well...

Oh how great it would be to burn 1000 calories a feeding... lol...

Haha, if that were true, then they wouldn't need to go to the gym.
