My Pre-Preggo Body!

posted 21st Jun
Ok, so I had my son on January 31st and gained 63 (yes 63) lbs while preggo.

I lost 20 on February 10th, but of course that was my preggo weight.

Needless to say, I still had 43 lbs to lose. Well, I kind of started exercising in March, although not as much as I should have and I didn't lose anything. Well, in the beginning to mid-May, I really started working my arse off at the gym, doing no less than 1 1/2 hours per day (1/2 hour of the treadmill at a 15% incline and at least 3.7 MPH, then the rest was upper body weight lifting one day, and lower the next) for 6 out of 7 days per week.

Well, as of yesterday, I only had 16 lbs to lose, thus, have lost 27 lbs since May!!!! YAY!!!!

I just wanted to let you all know this becuase as most of you know, I was really depressed about my weight at one point.

I just know that if I ever have more children, I will NOT let myself gain more than half this weight, so basically, no more than 30 lbs. Of course it will be the healthy way.

COngrats!! Keep up the good work. With my first I gained 70-something pounds so I totally know what you're going through!! But, like you, I watched what I ate and worked hard and before I knew it the weight was gone. It didn't seem fast enough at the time, but looking back losing it within a year was amazing ...and I'm proud I never gave up! So ... good luck and stay motivated!!   This time around I've watched what I ate and worked out throughout my pregnancy and have gained 30 pounds ... I get induced Tuesday!! Woo-hoo!! Anyway, I'm hoping this time is easier to lose!!

Congrats, again!! And good luck!

Well definitely good luck on Tuesday! I was due January 30th and was schedule for induction on the 31st but went into labor that morning anyway!

And it's weird because the weight is just coming off and I thought it was taking forever, until I realized that I didn't start really trying until around 14 or 15 weeks PP and in just over a month have lost 27 lbs! I guess I'm just impatient that way! But yeah, it seems like I'm losing a pound ever 1-2 days, no joke. Except today, being I'm ovulating, but I'm only 1 1/2 lb up so I still say I weigh 161 (I was 145 pre-preggo) instead of 162 due to ovulation. So I'm not worried - I would have to eat 5,250 calories to gain 1 1/2 lbs without exercising, and I honestly don't think I eat that much in 2 weeks - it's waaaaay too much food for sure!

But good luck!

Well, thanks for the good luck!!   I'm hoping to make it to my induction date because we live on an island off the coast of Maine and I'm horrified of going into labor in the middle of the night and having a baby somewhere in the ocean in a boat!! (I'm not from here originally, so it's a foriegn concept to me). Ha!!

Anyway, yeah 27 pounds is awesome!!!!   I lucked out with my son because I lost like 30 of the bat (he was 10 lb, 3 oz), but then after that even with breastfeeding it seemed like it wasn't going anywhere ... but like you one day I realized the weight was just melting off! It's such an awesome feeling. I only worked out 3 or 4 times a week PP with my son for an hour and by Christmas I was down to my pre-prego weight (he was born in Feb). My body still wasn't the same, so I lost more ... I think 80 total!!  Wow ... 1-2 pounds is a lot of weight!!! Holy cow! Are you breast feeding also? That helps. I hope it keeps melting off for you!!

I can't BF on account of my medications so I just formula feed and give my son baby food.

And even though I gained 63 lbs, I would love to lose a total of 70 lbs - I loved being 137 lbs - I looked great then! And to think that at 145 (my pre-preggo weight), I thought I was really fat - Jesus! Needless to say, I will NEVER think I'm fat ever again at that weight! But my thighs make me look like I'm bigger than I am - at least to me it does. Everyone tells me I'm crazy but we are our worst critics!

Well, being you live on an island, is there someone on shore you can stay with until then just in case?

Well then that's really awesome that you've lost so much so quickly w/o BF.

Yeah, you truly don't have an appreciation for what you've got until it's gone ... bodies included!!   BUt you're on track and before you know it, it'll be gone.

I liked being arounf 137 also, but I think I'm a little too skinny at that weight though ... I'm 5'10". We'll see if I try and get that skinny. I was at about 145 before pregnancy ... my first winter on the East coast made me gain.   Oh well.

I wish you luck!! I think working out when you can and watching your portion sizes for food will gt you down to your goal weight in no time!!

I went to your page and saw you JUST had your baby at the beginning of the month!!   YOu were like me ... lost a lot right after leaving the hospital. With BFing, watching portion sizes and wokring out when you can, you'll be down to a happy and healthy weight before you know it!!   JUst don't give up! COngrats, also, on the weight you've already lost!! That's awesome!!

Well didn't you just have your baby??? I only lost 20 within the 1st 10 days PP and thought it would just "melt off" but I was so wrong on that one - I work my tail off trying to lose this weight.

And as of Saturday, I had 16 lbs to lose but have since gotten really sick so I haven't worked out since then. I'm down to 15 lbs left but honestly, my fear is that I will be so sick that I will gain weight. Thank God for prescribed water pills/diuretics! So even though I eat very healthy and exercise 6 days per week, not everything I do is healthy, being I also take Phentermine as well.

You will get it off. It will be very difficult at first and hard on you but then all of a sudden, if you work at it (once you've been given the clearance from your doctor to start doing vigorous workouts), the weight will just melt off. It was really frustrating to me at first, believe me, but now I lose a pound every 1 1/2 to 2 days.

The key is to try to walk for at least an hour every single day at a brisk pace and try to do it in the morning as well - that boosts your metabolic rate for the rest of the day. And your baby will love the outdoors, too!
