Does anyone else's baby do this?? Kinda worried...

Ok, so Ava has been doing this thing sometimes where she sounds like and old man trying to breath! It doesn't seem to bother her at all and it doesn't look like she is having trouble breathing, but why is she making this noise? I want to call my doctor but my voice is gone! So I thought I would ask you ladies first... please help anyone! Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Lorelai sounded like that once and it was during a cold. Is she sick at all?

Yea, she's been stuffy... I thought that's what it might be but I wasn't sure... I was worried she had asthma!

That sounds like Lorelai. Do you have that saline nose spray? I used the one that didn't have any medication in it, I forget the brand...Little Remedies? I think. . It seemed to help her out a lot.

some babies get "stridor" when they are small because something in their trachea isnt firm enough yet and makes that noise when breathing. My daughter had that and dr's said it was fine and that she would literally grow out of it. The little "flap" or whatever that isnt firm will eventually get harder and not collapse to make that noise.......im not sure if i am describing it correctly but maybe you could google "stridor" because thats what it sounds like to me!!
As song as it doesnt look hard to breathe ...like chest caving in , then it should be fine till you ask a dr.

oh my god, thanks so much girls! I will definitely look up Stridor and yes I just got that saline spray, it was like a kit, haha... thanks again ladies!

ok, well i googled it myself and it sounds more severe than what i was thinking!!!!! I guess its the wrong word.......i heard them use it a lot in reference to my baby but, the definition sounds more severe! sorry about that....the way i described my daughters symptoms were right and that is what the doctors told me but, i guess i got the name of that particular incident wrong......not stridor!! sorry.

Kaylee has been breathing like that (its called a rattle) since she was born.. her first pedi would say ohh she was a c-sec baby she has to get the stuff out of her lungs or your a first time mom your worry to much.. we switched to her new pedi.. they are monitoring it to see if she still has it on the 1st of july and hey are gonna do a chest xray to rule out some stuff if it is still there (which it will its always there) but until shes like twoi believe they will just call it a chronic URI but they said they are pretty sure its asthma.. her dad's WHOLE family has it, and my mom's side of the family has it and i get really bad seasonal allergies

Adison's breathing was like that one time, and she was very sick. I am absolutely positive that your daughter does not have the same thing wrong with her, because she would be displaying a lot of other symptoms as well (lethargy, low body temp- like TOO low, Adison's was 92 degrees). It sounds like Ava most likely just has a cold, and I didn't read through all the way so maybe someone else has suggested this, but if you have a humidifier, turn that on for her, otherwise sit in the bathroom with her with the shower running on hot. The steam will help break up any congestion. Hope she is back to normal soon!
