Who had low fluid and What kind of birth did you have?

posted 21st Jun
So I amjust over 35 wksand my fluid levels have been low the last week, they went from 6 to 4 to 5.5 to 6. I am going to the Dr's every other day for fluid checks and NST. He is doing awesome on the NST and actually kicks off the monitors the whole time . . . My baby is weighing in at 6.8lbs and has measured 2 wks ahead, but they are still concerned about his lungs being developed so they want him to stay in until at least 36-37 wks. I'm out of work and on modified bed rest. They are saying my fluids will never be back up to like the 20's so I essentially have to "pick a birthday" with in the next week or so. How many people have had low fluid and did you have a C Section because of it? If you had a vaginal birth was it a "dry birth"? Thanks!

I had low fluid a couple times with my first baby at around 32 weeks. It fluctuated for a week, then was normal the rest of the time and i went into labor at 40 weeks. Best of Luck my dear!!

I had NO fluid on the day my daughter was born, and as far as I know, it was never checked prior to that. It was probably low for several weeks. I had a C-Section, but only because my daughter was breech, butt first.. And I was dialating like crazy. They were originally going to try to flip her, until we realized there was NO fluid. So I had o go in for Emercency sugery to prevent her from being born breech and DRY.

Edit to add... I was 40 weeks and 3 days when they realized there was no fluid.

Your amniotic fluid doesn't come out when the baby is being deliverd, but before that anyways. Your water either breaks or the doctors do it for you so there isn't any fluid by the time the baby is delivered. For you if your levels are so low that they worry about them, then maybe they will schedule you for a c-section if you do not go into labor on your own and they think the baby should come out.

Hey, I've been in the same boat. We have weekly BPP and NST tests as her fluid started running low back at 32 weeks (it was 6 then I think). They put my on bedrest and told me to drink 12-16 glasses of water/day and keep my legs up all the time as that will help to give better blood flow to the placenta. We've been going in 1-2x/wk depending on how low she is. Sometimes she's a little hard to wake up on the NST's but her heart rate always looks good if we stay on the machine for long enough. They wanted us to get to 37 weeks so that her lungs would be more mature and we woudl be at term and as of Weds our fluid was down to 5 (supposed to be aboeve 7.7) so we are going in tomorrow at 4 pm to be induced! We're going to try a vag delivery. I"ll keep you posted! I'm just so happy to have made it this far! I've been on bed rest for both preterm labor and low fluid since 24 weeks!! I can't wait to be able to clean my house be up again! So, I don't know what they will do for you, but we are going to see how the baby tolersates the vag induction knowing that a c-section is always a possibility. Best of luck to you! You're almost there!!

Good Luck tomorrow!!!!!! Def. Let me know howeverything turns out! It is so hard for me to be on bedrest when I still feel like there is so much to do! I can't imagine being on it for that long! Luckily I have my mom coming over every day or so and she just cleans.. I WISH I could do it though! I'm happy this happened later on in the pregnancy bc I'm already not sleeping thinking about everything that COULD go wrong. It's reassuring to know people have been in this boat and everythings turned out okay. Thanks for everyone who replied! Once Colin is here I can stop stressin' so much
