surrogacy?

Hey ladies. I've been doing some research and a lot of reading about surrogacy. My daughter is only 2 1/2 months right now, but i was told for years i would never be able to have children, now, after having my daughter, my doctor said everything looks great and it shouldn't be a problem to do it again. But because of that, i understand what it feels liks to be told you'll never have your own child, and i can't imagine someone having to go through life, wanting a child, and never recieving one. It's a miracle and i (think) i would love to help someone accomplish that.

so what i want to know is, have any of you been surrogates? and how? Gestational or traditional? or have any of you received a baby from a surragate? how did everything happen, and how are things now? Thanks ladies!

I had thought about being one for my sisters. I think it would be fun. But i cant do it now as i have had so much trouble with my last one im high risk. I think it would have been fun though.

Yeah I know a few others who want to be but she is the only one I know who is really pursuing it.

Idk if I could really do it. It would be nice to be able to bring a miracle into another family's life but I know I would have hard time giving it up. Even though the baby's not mine I would have a hard time seperating from it since I had an emotional connection with it for so long.

I know, but I think while you are pregnant you have to somehow "disconnect" mentally, ya know?

See I would so not be cut out for surrogacy. The moment I feel him/her kick I'd fall in love. You'd see it in the news "Crazy surrogate kidnaps baby"

haha. that's something i thought about. but i would have to do a gestational surrogacy, i couldn't do a traditional, knowing that i had a biological child out there. and i would want a couple or someone who is open about it. ya know, someone i can have a friendship with and possible see the child every now and then, i'm not sur ei could completely cut myself out of the picture, but i think if i go into it as just the giver for someone else, i could handle it better.

If you don't mindme asking but what is a gestational surrogacy? I'm not savvy on the terms.

It's where the surrogate just carries it. They use an egg doner or the moms eggs not the surrogats eggs. There's a bit more involved with this as the surrogate has to do hormone shots every day. A traditional uses her own eggs and no shots needed.

i just think it would be a lot easier on me emotionally if the child i was carrying was not 'mine' at all. i don't think i could give up a child that is half me. it would have to be someone else's egg implanted.

Wow, I didn't even know that was an option.
But I agree it would lessen the blow.

oh thanx for explaning it to me.. but I think either one I'd still become emotionally attached to it and want to keep him/her.
