Prenatal Vitamins

How many of you took the ones your doctor prescribed and how many of you took over the counter ones. My doctor gave me a ton of samples and a prescription but he said the prescription ones are very expensive. I just ran out of the samples today so I took some over the counter ones. My doctor though thinks the over the counter ones are crap. But I don't have the money to spend on an expensive prescription at the moment.

I took over the counter ones my whole pregnancy with my daughter. They're completely fine and have the same ingredients as the prescription ones so I don't know what your doctor's issue is.

He told me the ones I bought at Walgreens don't contain one whole miligram of folic acid but the prescription ones do.

I have been taking my scripted ones but I am running out and they cost over $100 for 3 month supply. I am about to buy an over the counter for my last 8 weeks.

I took over the counter one's. It was actually my dr's idea. He said it'sa waste of money to get the prescribed one's because they are no different.

I took the OTC (Wal-Mart) ones my entire pregnancy b/c the prescription ones made me sick. My doctor told me they were just as good and here I am 19 1/2 months later healthy w/ a very healthy little boy.

I took over the counter, the ones my doctor gave me were to expensive and the over the counter ones did the same thing. I delivered a healthy baby boy. 7lbs 12oz.

When I first went to the dr they gave me a sample bottle which I haven't opened. I just went to costco and bought a gigantic bottle of Nature Made prenatals...and they have higher folic acid and higher iron than the sample ones I was given. I have taken them the whole time and my midwifes say everything is perfect.

Well I take the one source prenatal and they have enough folic acid. If the ones you bought at walgreens don't though I would just buy a small over the counter bottle of folic acid and takeone of those pills with your prenatals.

Well as long as your not going to the dollar store to get ur PV.. But your doctor shouldn't make you think that the over counter ones suck. Unless he wants to provide you with free samples..
I had to take prescribe one last time I was preggers. The over counter one make me and a lot of women back up.If you know what I mean.. So I had to take specail ones which were awesome. But, I would ask if you can have some more samples. They get them for free and get more in anytime they want..At least that is what my doctor said..But I wouldn't take different PV. find one you like and stick with it...

I think I will stick with the over the counter ones. With gas at $4.30 a gallon and food prices going up I just can't afford the prescription ones right now. Even with my insurance they are hella expensive.
