She won't sleep!

posted 20th Jun
So my daughter is 2 weeks old now and I am having the hardest time with her sleeping. She will fall asleep on her boppy and sleep great during the day (even though I know they're not supposed to sleep on those.)...at night if we try to put her in her bed she's NOT having it. She cries and cries and cries, no matter what I do all night long. Its so frustrating. I dont' want her to get used to sleeping in our bed because I don't want a one year old who has to sleep in bed with my husband and me. I just can't figure out what to do and I'm feeling very overwhelmed with it all.

I'd swaddle her good and tight and try her in the crib and if that doesn't work, swaddle her and put the boppy around her feet.I bet she just likes the snuggness of it.Good luck, hope you find what works. She is still young though so don't fret.

I sleep with my kid and he is 2 1/2. It works for us. To each their own. On the other hand. She is still so little and at this age they can't be spoiled by sleeping with their parents. Lots of babies are like that at that age. it will get better. Just hang in there.

A 2 week old getting used to sleeping in your bed? Are you serious??

Let her sleep in the bed if that's what works. But try a tight swaddle first. It works for my guy a lot.

My daughter wouldn't sleep unless she was snug in her carseat. So we just let her do that for a couple of weeks. Maybe not the best idea but it worked.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that, whatever works!!!

No I know you can't spoil them at this age...I just don't want it to continue. I know people who are fine with their kids sleeping with them, and that's great for them. I just am not one of those people. I can barely sleep because I'm worried about her being in our bed and getting squished.

do you have a swing?? a lot of babies sleep really well in those. my daughter will only sleep on her tummy or her side and she prefers to be in a pack n play rather than her crib. i would try swaddleing her reall tight and get one of those positioners to keep her on her side.

Here's what we've done to avoid squishing Darwin...we found a baby bathtub what was flat (you know some have seats in them...). We placed some towels/blankets in it for cushioning and warmth. And we put him in it (his "motorboat" as we call it). This way we can't possibly roll onto him and he can't possibly roll out of the bed.

I'll have to figure something out...she's crying all night, so she's not getting sleeping, and I'm not getting sleep so I'm exhausted.   Hopefully one of these suggestions works.

My daughter was the exact same way! I just consistently rocked her to sleep and put her in the bassinet... even if she only slept for a few minutes before crying again. Then I'd do it again, allll night. Within a few days she'd sleep 2 hours at a time, then 4 hours, then when she was about 4-5 weeks old she started sleeping 8 hours straight through the night. I think she just had to get used to being put into her bed, and realized that I was always there to pick her up...Maybe? I don't know but it worked for me. Don't fret girl they always grow out of this stage and it DOES get better! =] OH! Also, we got a humidifier and left it on...The white noise helps some.

If a snug swaddle won't work along with a pacifier, then try letting her sleep in a bouncer or swing. I know that my son had his nights and days mixed up around that time, and I just stuck him in the bouncer right next to my bed. That way, when he would wake up crying, I'd just reach down and plop the pacifier in his mouth. It worked like a dream and I could get at least some sleep before he'd wake up hungry.
