"short" rant on a tall man
posted 19th Jun
I am out of my mind with the great Uncle staying here while Aaron's away. He is really going through dementia badly and no one told me this before he flew down here. The stress of him with all his health issues and all of a sudden special menus I have to cook for him (the past 2 nights he's eaten my dinner portions too...the other night he ate 1/2 a chicken!!) and then prepare another meal for myself. Today he forgot to close and lock the front door into the house after his morning walk (which, since it's about 110 in the sun at 8 am, so he literally just stands at the end of the driveway) and has only made mean, underhanded comments. I literally was having bad contractions due to the stress induced by him on Tuesday and just took all day in bed by myself today. So when I saw him on the porch b/c i took the dogs out to pee, he said "Oh, you don't HAVE to cook for me tonight." I wasn't planning on it! Not even a single thank you since he's been here! I could just strangle the man! Oh, and did I mention that he hasn't showered or anything since last Thursday and reeks and is re-wearing his sweaty clothes that I offered to wash and he refused! So, he is just NASTY! I soooo can't wait for him to leave! He makes those sarcastic comments all day long, every day. Not very considerate, especially since the whole reason we flew him in was to be here in case something went wrong and be company and I end up locking myself up in my room for hours (now a whole day) b/c he is so negative and mean!
And he won't follow house rules, like calling the dogs into the kitchen as I'm yelling at them to get out! He just laughs about it. I'm like, "My house, MY RULES!" but that's no matter to him. Oh, and for 5 of the days he literally sat in the living room complaining about HIS back but wouldn't sit in the tub or stretch or anything, saying it's the chairs and the couch. So, b/c I am SOOO sick of his bitching, I go get him a LCD TV for his room on my credit card since we're broke until the 30th (not a big deal, just didn't have 300 spare bucks to throw around) and he wouldn't use that either. We put a chair especially for his back in his room and he could stretch out on his bed, but he would just sit there in the recliner and doze off all afternoon and when I'd tell him to go lie down he'd say "I'm not sleeping." Umm, a 52 inch TV uses WAY TOO MUCH energy just to run in the background, so I flipped the main power switch to force him back to the guest room for his CNN...and he gets me up at 5 in the morning EVERY DAY!!! I finally cracked and since he wouldn't listen to anything I'd say, wrote it in a note, telling him NOT to egg the dogs on into barking and to take a bath among other things. Well, he's leaving the dogs alone, but still won't bathe. And I won't go in public with that stinky cheese man. Oh, and did I mention that when I told him I was going to run a quick errand BY MYSELF, he "appeared" in my car when I went back to my room to put on shoes! So I've literally been a prisoner in my own house and am being treated like a 3-year old...only I have to clean up after his messes EVERYDAY and he still complains that I keep a dirty house! Umm, I vaccuum and Swiffer EVERYDAY so, shut up old man!
Sorry it sounds so harsh, we are actually really close and I think that's what's bothering me even more. He is so grumpy and argumentative (he was yelling at me about car insurance rates for men being unfair...like I control THAT) and gets in these personal digs and shows no concern for how I am feeling. It's so frustrating and upsetting that I'm just at my wits end!
Luckily, I've survived 7 days so far and it's only one more, but that means I'll probably be cooped up in my room again tomorrow! Only 28 more hours until DH gets home and he can tell him off!
