When I went they just did a special ultrasound where they measured everything closer. I never had an amnio, but sometimes for whatever reason the baby stops growing properly inside and its just better to get him/her out now then wait any longer. The placenta can be not functioning good. Try not to worry (i know its easier said they done!) but maybe they are just trying to figure out if they need to get you delivered now rather than waiting a couple more weeks.

well they said nomatter what they would induce me next week but they wanna check tomarrow and see how everything is going cuz on tues i was 37w5d and his head mes. 37w4d and his belly was i think 33w and his legs were mes 32 weeks so they were thinking abou tinducing then but they said becuz i dialated only 1 cm they didnt want to risk a csection and they were going to wait till fri(tomarro) and run all those tests again but when i just talk they said it was a special 3d u/s and then the message thing said they always start with an amnio. i was like wait a min i am 38 weeks why would you wanna do that now! i dont kno if they were talking about every1 or just people who are way back all i kno is i dont wanna get 1 done and it hurt the baby you know i would rather have him they said he would be fine if he came out tues so why not just take him tomarro instead of the amnio(he moves alot lol and i thought that that was when they stick a nedle in the embilical cord) but the nurse was like we will call you back when we talk to the dr.

That does sound weird. I wouldnt want to do it either. I hate the thought of them sticking a needle in my belly that close to my baby! You are certainly far enough along to deliver I dont understand why they just wont get the baby out now. Unless they just want to run up more $$$. I've had that happen to me several times! Good Luck and congrats on having your baby soon!!
