Is it okay for her to eat like this?

My daughter is almost 5 months old and I was wondering if it was okay to give her three "meals" a day. Shes been "eating" cereal since she was about 2 months because she has acid reflux and at about 3 and a half months I started giving her the cereal in a bowl and spoon feeding it to her.

But usually in the morning I give her cereal for breakfast and then at noon I give her some type of baby food.. usually a vegetable. At night before bed I give her more cereal to keep her full longer. Her main food source is still formula..but I didnt know if it was alright for her to be eating like this. I just cant afford giving her so much formula anymore. Since her acid reflux is so bad the doctor put her on REALLY expensive formula which is 25$ for a small can and WIC only gives me 8 cans and she usually goes through 10-11 cans a month.

She has an appointment on the 26th and I'll bring this up but I just wanted your opinion.

I'm sorry for your situation. But her main source of nutrition should be formula so she gets all the vitamins she needs to grow. For her brain and eyes.3 meals a day at her age, I wouldn't do, but everyone is different.

Maya is just starting 3 meals a day and she is 8 months. You usually dont start til 9 months.

Edit to add.... maya did almost a month of just cereal til I started veggies. I understand the reflux, but the veggies and what not shouldn't be started that soon.

i personally think it is to soon for baby food... but I understand using it for reflux, I would deffinatly not try to get her to take less formula because you can't afford it. They take a certian amount for a reason, because it is how much they need.... For brain development.

She doesnt eat very much of it though.. she doesnt really like it especially the baby food. I think I'm going to talk to the doctor about switching her to a less expensive formula.

At my daughters six month check up, we were given the go ahead to start 3 meals a day, so your little one may be a bit young for that still.

I'm pretty sure there has to be something less expensive out there. Especially cause she has reflux you should wait to start her on other stuff

Yes really. Her father isnt involved he doesnt pay child support. If I bought three cans of formula a month that would be over 75 dollars

Some pedis suggest starting fruits and veggies at 4 months. Cereal and fruit in the morning, cereal and veggies in the evening. But they are all different, doctors that is.

yeah at the WIC office they have like a time limit for them to be on special formula and hers was 6 month so thats pretty close.

my son is 7 months and he has been getting 3 meals a day since he was 41/2 months he is a really hungry baby now he is getting 4 meals a day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper!!!! i think each mother know what is best for her baby, but it is advised to wait until 9 months before giving 3 meals a day.

Thats really not that bad. I spend around 300.+. I don't have alot of money either.

considering I make 7 dollars an hour and can only work a certain amount of hours a week it is a lot.

AJ is on Alimentum
