here, they take your baby away and they automatically take anymore kids you have away unless you go to court.

Quoting march mommy!:“ playing devils advocate... what about alcohol. It is illegal in the service industry to refuse alcohol to a pregnant woman... yes drugs are illegal, but where do you draw the line?”

can you provide a link to this? I just doubt it because they say a few glasses of wine during pregnancy are perfectly okay...I never did it lol...I'm too scared ha...but I don't think it would do anything...I have my certificate to serve alcohol in the state of Texas and I never learned anything about that..

i know its rare but i'm sure we've all heard about that obese lady who didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labor....I wonder if states who press charges for substance use in cases like that.

I think its really sad that the baby had to go through that. I honestly think an abortion would have been a much better option for that baby.

But I'm on the fence with it. I don't think the mom should get to keep her kid of course...which I don't think they do. But while I would never put a baby I intend to give birth to through that I don't see why its ok to kill the baby in utero but not do drugs. Abortion shows the baby doesn't have rights until its born....so why make an exception for drug use?

i think its unconstitutional to randomly drug test without proper cause, or without proper consent.
medicaid recipients gives grounds for drug testing, because they pay for everything.

A little off topic, but once my husband had an asthma attack and turned completely blue. We lived in the sticks so I had to call an ambulance cause I couldnt carry him downstairs. Even though I told them dumbasses he had an asthma attack they treated him for a drug overdose and put him in a damn coma. They drug tested him saying he had track marks in his toes...and even told his parents that. Boy were they shocked when his drug test came back perfectly clean. I was pissed.

I was told I couldn't refuse to sell to a pregnant woman when I worked in a Texas bar. They said its not my call for what choices she makes and to bring it no matter how against it I personally am.

you do realize non-drugs show up positive on those tests they do right? if you take cold medicine or eat te wrong thing it may show positive for illegal drug use. so while you may think "they can go ahead and test me...i have nothing to hide" you could geta random test that you're sure you're going to pass and they take your child away from you. after further testing i'm sure you could get your kid back but even missing a day of your newborns life would be horrible.

ditto on what you said about not being able to refuse a pregnant woman alcohol..thats what i thought...

and from my understandning...isn't it rare for other things to show up as other substances? I watched something on TV that said poppy seeds can show up as opiates lol...but you have to eat an ungodly amount of poppy seeds...I don't really know what else could show up as something else though..I would hope everything would be judged on an individual basis, discussed wth your doctor, and went through a list of what medications you have been taking ya know to see if thats why you might have gottena fals positive drug test ya know??

just something random..when I was younger and used to do drugs..I smoked a joint in the parking lot before my interviwe, I had no clue they were going to drug test me and it was an oral swab....they called me a week later and I had passed , so I got the job lol...craziness!

i disagree if u have nothing to hide then why would u care... this would help prevent alot of children goinghome with druggies... my sis did drugs while she was pregnat with my youngest newphew and he howed no signs of it at birth and now he has all kinds of problems... not to mention my sister never stopped doing drugs and ended up losing her kids to the state... if they would have tested her and the baby when he was born maybe things would have ended up diffrently...

yeah one of our regular BG members had issues b/c she showed positive from her cold medicine. i know a lot of OTC and prescription drugs can show up as amphetamines and such. i remember a hug elong warning list for my boyfriend b/c he was on a drug probation and was tested weekly. things that would show positive so he couldn't take them because it costs a lot to do they better follow up tests. it was insane!

and thats crazy haha

I dont have anything to hide, but I have known some very good mothers that smoked plenty of pot while pregnant, and to think they could have taken her kids away from her, then those kids would not have the wonderful mother and life they have now.

ohh okay...thanks for that...now I know lol...not like I ws trying to hide anything but I'm more informed lol...

and I can say it probably is unconstitutional to drug test every woman...I think they do for medicaid though, I'm not sure and that makes sense since the goverment is paying for it all ya know?

theres nothing like that here, although i started a petition in 2006 to ask our prime minister to create such a law pertaining to alcohol. i joined the FAS network in my city and worked with kids in foster homes who had FASD. I decided if no one was gonna do anything about it, I would. Well I was interviewed on tv and people were able to call in and ask questions. you would THHINK people wou ldsupport this, but all these people are more interested in helpiung the borth moms who are the ones doing the damage to the babies. it sickens me that they can abuse their own bodies....and their unborn babies, and be supported in tit too. It's so stupid. i bet if i got all the bg moms siggies on my petition i would have had that llaw implemented by now
