mommies that were induced...

posted 18th Jun
How was your expierence? How was the pain? Any details about your induction at all would be nice!
And for those mommies who have gone into labor on their own and who have also been induced, which was better and why? (Last question is for the mommies who have more then one child of course)

I was induced at 36 weeks and 5 day's due to IUGR and low fluids. The first night It took 21/2 day's for labor to start 15 hours of labor and then only 10 minutes of pushing.I was having regular contractions BEFORE the pitocin.after that they were constant and HURT like a bitch.I caved and got the epidural I was in heaven.

I was induced and it was a really slow process. The pain was TERRIBLE until I got the epi, and then the epi slowed my dialation down. Thalia started to go into distress and they were prepping the OR for a c-section and I suddenly got the urge to push, I dialated just in time. I pushed for like 15 minutes and she was here. Good luck with your induction!!

hi! i was induced at 38 weeks due to high bp. i would say that my experience was likely better than some due to my 4 hour labor... h owever my nurse sucked and waited to check me after i kept telling her how much pain i was in, so by the time they checked me, i was 8cm so i couldnt get the epi. overall though, it wasnt too bad. they gave me "pain killers" (nubain) which seemed to do nothing but make my head foggy and I don't really remember clearly the labor (after that was administered) or much for the next day or so. But the pain was pretty severe, but I managed to get through it alive! LOL

My induction was great! 7 hours from start to finish. I went into labor on my own with my first, not much difference in pain. I actually liked being induced. I am doing it again this year. Good luck!

I went into labor n my own w/ my first at 39w 5d and even though my labor was super fast it was quite scary for me. I had the "bloody show" at about 6am and dstarted having pretty intense contractions at about 11am went to the hosp at 3pm and my daughter was born at 4pm. She came so quickly into my pelvis that she became stuck and they lost her heartbeat all together, they had to use the vacume, no time for an epidural etc. Thank God she was born ok and healthy and even though it was scary I would do it again in a heartbeat. With my second I was 41w1day and was induced. at 6amI went in and they checked me and I was 3cm 50% effaced and they broke my water. About 2-3 hrs later I was 6cm and contracting pretty good but not too painful, so no need for pitocin. About 3 hrs later they checked me and I was nearly 8 cm and at this point in alot of pain. After they checked me I began having contraction after contraction and decided to get the epi. After that I felt preety good other than the "window" so I could still feel the contractions in one spot but not nearly as bad. About45 mins after the epi I began feeling like something was about to come out and they checked and sure enough she was right there. I pushed for about 35 mins and she was born @ 4:53pm w/ no problems ( no vacume or episiotomy this time yay!! but I did have 2nd degree tears)I feel like being induced wet waaay better than goin on my ownit just felt alot more controled and I was alot more relaxed. I also have to say that the dr's and nurses that I had the 2nd time around were alot more helpful and encouraging.I also think that of course the epi did wonders for me I was able to concentrate on pushing and breathing rather than the pain, and that made a huge difference for me. Good luck to you!! ( sorry this is sooo long!)

I was induced. I am not sure if it had anything to do with the induction but I was in a great amount of pain. They started my induction around 7am and I was okay. I woke up at 10 with killer contractions. They tried to do an epi and it wouldn't take. They tried 4 times. During that time I was in so much pain I was screaming (from the contractions, not the epi going into my back). They seemed to be coming back to back. They gave me a spinal block and it was okay. They checked me right after though because I told them how I felt the urge to push...I was at 10 and this was around 11am. So from 7 to 11 I went from a 1 to a 10.
