Delivering Baby before Due Date

posted 18th Jun
Okay first I want to say I am a very determined person who never says never and I believe everything is possible. My mother in law who works with doctors and had two kids told me the weeks were you can have a healthy baby is 37-40th. My due date is Aug 28 that same week I have my fall term classes starting. I cannot give up on those classes because education is not only my future but my son to be future as well. I was hoping if anyone has gone through labor before there due date or have had someone induce their labor at 37, 38 weeks pregnant. Thank You

Usually they only induce labor before your due date due to medical reasons.

I'm due the same day!! (I haven't updated my profile though). I also am starting classes Sept. 4th. Are you going part time or full time? I'm having a hard time deciding because I only have 4 classes left and I need to have my degree finished before we leave here next June. I know how you feel and I'm interested what other people will tell you!

I've never known a dr to induce unless you've gone over your due date, or for medical reasons. The closer to term your baby is the healthier your baby.....that's why I've heard they won't induce.

I understand education being very important in life, especially nowadays....but the health of your baby is MUCH more important.

doctors usually wont induce you unless you have a medical reason. really, as a new mother, i couldn't imagine you starting classes at that time right after delivering a baby anyway. that is just crazy!

I had my daughter 1 month early and she was 7lbs. 14oz and as healthy as can be. I think your reasons for wanting an early delivery are pretty reasonable. It's better than some people who want to deliver early because of stretch marks.

Im taking 3 classes. Im just devistated because my son is important to me but so is my education and with financial aid only covering fall and spring you have to take advantage. If your school has mini terms than maybe you can do 3 classes and do the last one on the mini term. Its good to talk to advisement.

Good luck talking your doc into that one. I'm not trying to be negative but a lot of first time mommy's are late. Even if you did deliver early starting school with a newborn will be very difficult. You might want to consider taking the semester off. But that's just my opinion

If I wasnt getting this semester from the government I would take it off but I need this semester. I know it is probably going to be extremly hard to near impossible but when your bringing a bundle of joy and you havnt finished your school you have some consequences. I wish the classes started later but I cant force the school to make fall term later just cause of me.

I can imagine where this might be going.

But, You can have a scheduled C-section.

I was a scheduled baby. I don't know how early I was born though.

My mom scheduled me so my big sister didn't have to go through "birth" during school days.

Ive never heard of people wanting to induce pregnancy because of stretch marks. Wow. Im hoping that by feeding this baby all that can and yes healthy foods ofcourse he will get big and need to be out soon.

I'm not trying to be mean (at all) but instead you want to force your baby? I know that it's hard, cause I was in college when I got pregnant with my son.....but I was the one that decided to have him, he didn't ask me to. LOL It just never seems fair to me to force something on them when they didn't ask for it.....ya know?

I think it's commendable that you're still planning on school! I was so close to just taking the semester off, but I know it may screw me up for a long time since I'd have to change schools if I don't finish and who knows when I'll be done! I'm actually counting on the baby being late, but I'm going to ask my profs if I can take the first 2 weeks off but still do the work assigned (geology is very lenient!). Talk to your instructors and see what they can do. I wouldn't want to induce though. He comes when he comes...

I'll most likely take 3 classes too. Good luck!
