Breastfeeding/Bottle feeding??

posted 18th Jun
Ok so I am a little frustrated with all the questions starting to come by way about are you going to breastfeed this time ?? I tried my with our daughter and had to take some special vitamin to help milk production and still my daughter was coming up short on weight gain so after 6 1/2 months of killing my body and stressing over feeding her I turned to formula. This go round I am not so sure I even want to try but there is a part of me that feels guilty! I am new to baby gaga but I have been reading lots of post and see how many awesome Moms are out there with support so I just wanted to get some advice and opinions???

I agree it's probably worth it to at least try. If things don't work out you can always use formula but you might produce more milk this time around. Try and work with a lactation consultant too because they can be very helpful. Good luck!

They always say breastfeeding is the best, however, I bottle fed my daughter & she turned out no different than my nephew who is 6 months younger than her & he was breastfed. She actually behaves alot better than him & he is very clingy to his mom, where my daughter is totally independant. They are both 7, but he acts like he 4 most the time lol. I say you do what's best for you. They haven't been able to prove the breastfeeding is that much better than formula to me anyway. I am breastfeeding my second because I am now a stay @ home mom & formula gets expensive, otherwise my 1st choice was actually formula.

I say do what you are comfortable with. If you are nervous to try breastfeeding again, chances are you will have problems. You will stress yourself out. I did not breastfeed and don't plan on it again. It is just something that I am not comfortable doing. Plus, I have asthma and want to continue my treatment. Whatever you choose, do it for yourself and not others. I get A LOT of slack from my in laws that I didn't give me son "the good stuff" and that this one is going to "suffer" like my 1st. But, I know that I am not up for breastfeeding and all it demands. This is a very personal decision that only you can make. Either way you go, there is NOTHING to feel guilty about. Good luck!

I would just give it a try to see how it goes.. With my first everything went wrong and I ended up stoping when he was 3 weeks old. With my second I still wanted to but didn't want to feel the guilt if it didn't work out and just went into it with a if it works great if it doesn't oh well i tried..... It actually went great! I breastfed him with no problems for 7 months.. I did dry up at that time from starting the mini pill for b/c, but I was happy with how it went.. Both of my boys are very well behaved and I don't think that because one got breastfeed longer than the other either is any better or worse for it...

This time I am doing same as last.. If it works great if it doesn't work out well at least I tried.. If you can have that mentality then you and your child can't lose out.. It's not worth bf'ing if it ruins your world the whole time doing it..... Good Luck!

Thank you, everything is up in the air and hoping that I go full turm with this child as well will make a big difference to. Greysan, my first was 7 1/2 weeks early and that is the main reason I was dead set on B/F but I just dont want to feel guilty this time if I can't! Thank you again for your post!!

Well I hope that everything works out like you hope... Breast feeding is great when it's great and so bad when it's bad.. There is so much guilt if you don't or can't and I just wallowed in that the first time around... I think it actually had made me a little depressed until I had stopped.. You have to do what's best for your baby and yourself and you can only control so much! Good luck
