moving back home. advice?

posted 18th Jun
so me and my boyfriend are moving in with my parents for a few months, so we can save up some money. A rule that my parents have is that if your not married you can not sleep in the same room, so me and the bf will have seperate rooms. He's totaly cool with this and i'll be good with it for a while. We are only planning on staying for about 3 months or so. thats our goal. Im worried about that if we do this though that it might ruin our relationship because my parents are super nosey and they are very vocal about their opinions. has anyone moved back home for a little bit? how did it work out?

You guys have a child together, but can't stay in the same room? I think that's weird. It's not like you haven't had sex before. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

I can't really help you with advice, but I find it kind of funny that your parents want you and your boyfriend to have separate rooms...considering the fact that you already have a child together. Oh well, their house, their rules. LOL Good luck!

You poor thing! That really sucks. I think it is time your parents let go. You guys have a child together! I'm sure you've heard that a few times.
Anyway, my advice to you is this: be as respectfulas you can possibly be. Show them that you are an adult, in an adult relationship. Make sure you clean up after yourself, and try your best not to give them any ammo to get on your case.
Unfortunately, being 18, some parents still don't view thier children asadults. It takes time, so just be patient. Shoot, my parents didn't start giving me that adult respect until I was almost 22.

This is a toughy. My husband would do EVERYTHING in his power so that we never move in with my parents, even if that means he has to work 2 jobs. I love my parents dearly, in fact my mother is like my best friend but my husband is very old fashioned and feels that it's the man's responsibility to take care of his own family, NO MATTER WHAT. Good luck.

Same here! I don't know how so many people live with their parents. It would be crazy and chaotic and you do have to follow their rules b/c it is their home.

I think it's sad when adults move back in with their parents. My mother still has her oldest (47) living with her, apparently 2 daughters switching off living there. One who is 40 and the other who is ..... 43. For corn sakes... they raised their kids... once you turn 18 it's time to learn how to fly on your own. Maybe I'm just jaded due to my mothers situation, but if you're going to mooch off your parents then you need to respect and obey their wishes.
