my son is 6 months and i was wondering what you fed you babies at 6 months? and what did you let them drink??? do they take to the sippy cup???

At 6 months we started with rice - a week later we intro'ed oatmeal. About a week after that we intro'ed:

Green beans
Peas
Banana
Avocado
Apple
Carrot
Papaya
Summer Squash
Mango
Butternut Squash
Pear
Sweet Potato
etc.

Waiting 3-4 days between foods. The full and complete list would be very long - but those were the first things we tried! (all her food is homemade).

I started to offer the sippy at about 6 months. I refuse to allow her to have juice. She takes formula only unless its a hot day and I am worried about dehydration in which case I will offer water between meals/

i fed my little one just about all the fruit and veg i cauld puree , but i stayed away from dairy products till almost 12 months . She had her cup at around 8 months and i only gave her water in it first off then around 10 months she had baby juice in it . We are trying to get her off her night time bottle at the moment and switching it to her cup but she is resisting lol ( and i must say i still enjoy having a cuddle and giving her her bottle at night so it is prob my fault more than anything ) 
And ll the food we gave her and still give her is home made ( you never really know 100% what is in pre made foods and with allergies and things like that we decided home made was the way to go )

How do you make her food? Do you just mash it or do you mix it with anything?

I use www.wholesomebabyfood.com for a lot of my info... but, most things I just blended and added water to get to my desired consistancy. Somethings needed to be cooked (steamed or baked) but it really isnt tough. Now that Kailyn is getting bigger I rarely blend stuff - I mash almost everything with a fork or cut it and offer it as finger foods. There is also a homemade baby food chat in PWI... if you are interested I can dig up the link (its a thread I started so you can also get to it from my profile). There are a bunch of helpful ladies that frequent that thread. And the more the marrier!

whby dont u let her have juice ? Is that bad or something could it hurt them ?

at 6 months.. jade is already on stage 2 and meats. she gets a bottle 3 times a day and gets food 3 times a day. i give her juice with her food. im going to try a sippy cup soon cause she wont let me hold her bottle anymore

Juice is unnecessary sugar -It lacks the nutrients that are found in the fruit itself...the juice basically contains the water and sugars andleaves behind the pulp whichhas a lot of the vitamins and othergood stuff in it. Granted it is better than kool-aid or soda... but, milk (breast or formula) is very important for their first year, and I dont want a sugary beverage taking the place of a liquid she would actually benefit from.

Would it hurt her? Obviously it wont kill her... but IMO its not good for developing healthy eating habits.
