Leg Cramps

posted 17th Jun
Lately I've been waking up in the middle of the night with horrible leg cramps and I can't go back to sleep for a long time afterwards. Usually I have to get my fiance to massage them out but the other night he wasn't home and it was so bad I couldn't breathe or move or anything.
Anyone else get bad leg cramps? And what do you do to stop/help them? My leg is so sore from getting them, and it's just the right one.

whatever you do dont point your toes out! pull ur toes up towards your shin-flatten them- itll help.

Try drinking lots of water during the day, the doc said it is supposed to minimize them and it has worked for me!

Point your feet out.. Um.. Like stretch.. I know you feel like it might hurt, but once you stretch out your toes outward it goes away..

Its normal with pregnancies..

Oh, geez. I already feel like a water balloon from how much water I drink. I guess I'll drink more. Lol.

Yes I learned this the hard way. Your leg muscles, after working hard all day carrying the extra weight, are extremely touchy, so try hard not to stretch them out while you're laying down. Try sleeping with your knees slightly bent, and one leg closer up to your stomach. It's been helping me.

Huh? Whenever I got them.. they went away immediately.. I sometimes even had leg cramps for like.. a second when I stretched my toes out..

I would have your Dr. check you blood for vitamin levels...Usually cramps like that mean low potassium or magnesium or something so You could try eating a banana a day or so and see if that helps...but if they are that bad tell you Dr. and they should be able to tell you for sure what it is and how to help them...

P.S. I get bad leg cramps when my potassium is low (when Im not preggo)

I'm right there with you! Mine hurt so bad then wake me up and lock my legs up for like 20 min and make me want to CRY! Then my legs are so sore for days after! A vibrating heated seat(on my calves) helps and rubbing them. Just make sure when they rub they rub up towards the heart!

Oh and its not a water or bananas thing for me! I seriously eat like two bananas a day and 8 gallons of water! I think it might just be a pregnant thing for me!

When I had them w/my 1st son my midwife said that it was due to lack of calcium. I started taking a calcium supplement so it was better.
