Parineum Massage?

posted 17th Jun
I had a 4th degree tear with #1, a 2nd almost 3rd degree tear with #2 and a did tear on my 3rd but not to any degree to warrant a label or a stitch (my babies always have very large heads- usually in the 100th percentile for their age lol). I have so much scar tissue down there that I was thinking of trying the massage technique. I was wondering if anyone has done the massage and had some positive feedback (or any feedback really) for doing it? Would you do it again? Did you do it yourself or did your SO help out (seems hard to do when you are really far long along lol). I'd reallllly like to avoid tearing too much, this is our last baby and I hit the ground running after #3 (recovered quickly I mean) and I'd like to increase the odds of that happening.

Thanks so much for any advice or feedback!!

edit to add- I realized after I posted, that I spelled perineum wrong. I totally know how to spell it- now it's just going to drive me crazy. LOL

I did it a handful of times...I found it hard to remember to do it. I did it myself when I did (I didn't get very big so I could still reach pretty good). They also did it during my labor of course. I barely tore at all...my doctor said that it was actually very little for a first time baby..

**edit to add** Doctor thought I wasn't even going to tear up until baby had already came through...and I was up going about business as usual on day 3.

I haven't done it myself but a lady at my prenatal yoga class was telling us that when she had her son she got her husband to do it, and it worked amazing. Her sons head was 2 inchs larger then normal and she didn't tear at all.
My yoga instructor also swears by it and says if you do your kegals and then do the massage they work together and it will make it alot easier. My partner and I are going to start tonight. Hope that helped a bit.

I have a hard time remembering to do stuff like this too. But I was hoping to get some feedback and was willing to even plan it in my day if I had to and set my pda or phone to go off. LOL But if it doesn't seem to do much, I wasn't going to invest all that time in it. I have other things I could do with that time that need to be done too. It's a pretty involved uhhh massage and if I had to do it myself- I imagine I would be exhausted when done from all the curling around my own tummy to reach girly bits I haven't seen in months. hehe

I am doing my Kegals right now. During labor class (with DS) they said the best way to not forget is to do them is to associate them with something else you do not forget to do. Her example was red lights and lines. When she stopped at a red light or waited in a line she did them. It's not like anyone knows whats going on down there.

LMAO...that's fine for kegels but I was just imagining doing the massage during those times. "hey red light...gotta jerk down my pants"

Just massage the area between your vagina (you could do the inside back portion too) and anus. (wow...I'm impressed by how technical I sounded)
