labor question

When the baby is locked into postion and like in between contractions can you still feel it's little arms and legs moving?

Yesterday my husband and I went walking and I started getting sharp pains on my left side every 6-10 min. I'm assuming they are contractions because they kept coming back but I didn't feel them for very long. A couple wks ago I was in l&d bc of back pains and while I was hooked up to the moniter I had 2 contractions but I never felt anything so I'm thinking I only felt the peak of the contraction.

Another question...my Dr can't get my in til the 30th and I'm due the 4th. So basically I've never been checked for dialation or anything. If these pains keep up should I call l&d, explain my situation and insist on being checked? I think it would put my mins at ease since I'm so worried I'm not going to know I'm in labor. OH and I'm feeling sick today, have multiple soft bm a day and am constintly peeing. It's almost time, right?!?!?

Can you tell I'm new at this! LOL

from what i have heard, you can feel the baby move while you are delivering! so yes, you can feel the movements. it sounds like contractions to me... give L&D a call. they will probably tell you to come in to get checked out. if it's a false alarm, who cares! good luck!

Could definitely be close!
I personally didnt feel him move while I was in labor, but I'm not sure I was paying a whole lot of attention either. However, I have heard that some people do. I would call L&D and get checked out. Or you could wait until they become more consistent....thats what I did because I didn't want to spend any more time in the hospital than I had to

I have felt my children move during labor and even while just their head was out!
Sounds like you are very close.
I would call your doc and just let them know what you are feeling.

I was in L&D at 36 weeks cause I fell and I had 4 contractions that I never felt. The nurse told me that contractions at this stage are really normal and they expect them. Also, it is normal to have painful contractions, especially while walking. Those are the ones that are dialating and effacing your cervix. Unless you are having contractions 5 mins apart, they will usually not admit you to L&D. There are ppl who are closed up tight and have their baby hours later, and then there are people like my sister who dialate to 3 and still have to be induced cause they get stuck there for weeks. When it is real labor, you will know. My midwife told me when I get strong contractions to lay down and rest. She said that you will not be able to sleep through real labor, and that is how she knew with her first baby!
