Too Big For Diapers

posted 17th Jun
What do you do when your child is outgrowing diapers but it too young to be potty trained?

As far as I know( I could be wrong), diapers only go up to size 6. Caleb is in those now at 14 months even though he is only 22 lbs. Smaller sizes are too tight around his legs. And I don't think he'll be in them much longer. Are training pants the only option even if he's not ready to be potty trained? Are there other options?
Any of you have the same problem?

yea, we've tried luvs, pampers, white cloud, parents choice. Huggies and pampers are really too expensive for us right now, but we tried them, and they're all the same. When he was 5 months old he was in size 4s

I guess you could try Pull Ups but they are more expensive than diapers.

Can cloth diapers be used for bigger babies?  I don't do cloth, so I do'nt know the details, but that might be an option.

I don't think they take into consideration that not all babies' bodies are built the same. My son is scrawny, but has chunky legs.

Cloth diapers are for up to potty training days. There's some really good brands. Kushies is one of the best. They're pricey at first but they definitely pay for themselves over and over because obviously they're reusable. You buy separate liners and covers to keep them clean. I've not used them personally, but I know of some that do and they love em! They're also usually much larger than disposables.

I've thought about using cloth diapers, and someone on here was talking about G-diapers awhile back which seem really neat. The liners for them are flushable, but I don't know how well the cloth part will fit. I'm going to look up kushies.

We're currently using luvs and white cloud, but we've tried huggies, pampers, and parent's choice. The huggies and pampers do fit a little better, and he lasts a little longer in them, but not by much. He's still a size 6 in them.
We used pampers until aroud 6 months and when he was 5 months his doctor suggested we go from size 3 to size 4. I think he was only 15-18lbs then.
I'm hoping that since his weight gain has slowed down right now, that he'll stay in the 6's a good while, but I don't think we're going to have much luck with that.

That's odd because my son is 14 months too and is 30 pounds and wears a size 5. He is known for his chunky legs.. but they are thinning down since he has been walking. We use huggies. I get them from wal-mart for 18 bucks for a box of like 80.. and they usually last about a month.. maybe a little less
