Baby Needs?

What are the absolute must haves for newborns? I know diapers and clothes and all that, but did you really use a bassinet, changing table, etc? And what do you really recommend?

A swing, my son loves it and he sleeps in it too
Myson doesn't sleep in his crib or bassinet.

bassinet yes that we use all the time. Diaper gene is nice but not a need. Changing table we had for a first it wasnt really a need as much of a want. So with our second we bought a three draw dresser because that was a need and we bought a changing pad that had a spot to screw it onto the back of the dresser and we use that for a changing table. Make sure the pad has a strap to strap the baby down so he/she don't roll off. A swing is not a need but its nice to have same with a bouncer. I would take a bouncer over a swing anyday. Although I would only take a baby bjorn bouncer. They look sooo boring but OMG its a life saver its the only bouncer out of the four we have my son will actually sit in. Also a baby bath tub is nothing but a pain in the but my son slides in his and it just is alot of work we also have one of them little seats with the nets and they are awesome. We have the one that can be used tell they can sit up on there own. So really other then diapers wipes and clothes and a bed theres not much of a need most of its wants well and a carseat ofcourse.

crib
pack 'n play (never saw the use or a bassinet when that has one and i can con't to use it when they are older)
swing/bouncer or both
baby tub
diapers, wipes, butt cream
bottles, or breast pump
saw no use in a diaper genie, or a changing table. i change my boys on the floor and trash stinks anyway and its never smelled like dirty diapers in my house.
baby monitor
infant car seat
stroller
jumper/walker for when they are older
crib sheets a few sets becausethey get dirty QUICKLY.
clothes...DUH! lol.
pacifiers if you choose to use them.
high chair
extra money on the side just in case something happens and you can buy it..
i'm sure there is more thats all i got.

stoller.. If you go for walks or go anywhere where your going to walk.
play pen. I used that for his naps during the day and he can use it when he gets older.
He started to use his high chair around 4 months when i started to feed him cereal.

Absolute must have needs, diaper bag (or something to put diapers/wipes/etc in like a messenger bag backpack), burp cloths, blankets, clothes, diapers, wipes, bottles if you don't plan to BF, carseat, and someplace for baby to sleep.
EVERYTHING else is not a necessity at first. Yes, it's nice to have a crib/basinette AND a pack n play, but you don't need both. A bouncy seat is wonderful to have so that you have a safe place to put baby down if you need to do stuff, but you can survive the first few days without one. Changing table...never used one. DS would either get changed on the floor or on the bed, whichever was convenient. Swings are nice too, but DS was one of those weird babies that just never liked his so it was a waste of money (even tho I got it as a shower gift). If baby's sleeping in your room or is nearby (like across the hall) and you are a light sleeper (I became one once I had DS), the monitor is pointless. I could hear him cry and it woke me out of a dead sleep no matter how tired I was even if he was just whimpering. Everyone is different tho, if you don't think you'll hear baby (and baby's not in the room with you) a monitor is essential.

-bassinet, i used one with both my kids( i still have the same one).Used it for a few months. Loved it cause the baby was right there next to me, and since they wake up often to feed (especallay when breastfed) its nice for them to be right there. I would just suggest you dont spend a lot of money on one.

- clippers, nasal asperator
-boppy. they have multi uses. When they were first born, I layed it on the couch with a blacket over it, and put the baby inside. The baby loved feeling cradled.
Then when bigger you can use it as a cushon while they are learning to sit. The uses are endless.
