Wondering

posted 16th Jun
If there are any mommies who gained 30 pounds by the time they were 21 weeks and if so how much they gained altogether? Also wondering how long it took them to take it off when they had their little prince or princess? I know there are tons of threads like these, I did a search, but I couldn't find one where someone had gained as much as me and then talked about losing it after, just the gaining part   Both my mom and sister lost like 30 pounds before they even left the hospital, but I have ALWAYS fought my weight so I am a little panicked. Thanks.

I think I have gained about that much and I am now approaching 37 weeks. You will lose a few of them just before you have the baby and hopefully, you will lose all that you gained in the next year or so after having your baby...nothing impossible if you got the motivation and patience to do it.

I gained a lot at first, but not 30 pounds. I kept gaining a lot of weight & then now... since April I've only gained a pound. Right now I'm sitting at 30 pounds gained. Just walk, even if it's not a lot... it does help.

I dont think i gained 30 lbs by 21 weeks, i gained majority of my weight once i got to 30 weeks but i gained 70 lbs altogether... I lost 20 of it immediatly after birth and 20 more in the last 2 1/2 months. I AM breastfeeding so i dont know if that plays a part in it but i still have like 30 lbs to loose.. it's coming off a little slower now but it IS still coming off with no exercise! Now that it's summer i have been getting out walking a little more but i should probably put a little more effort into it. Good luck!

Thanks, I lost 118 pounds in 7 months about a year ago in a very public way and I am trying to get a handle on how much work it is going to be to lose baby weight since I have never gained weight for such a good reason before  , I also was wondering about the timeline because I make my living from how much weight I have lost. Ialso have to admit that I feel a little embarassed, I told a friend today what I have gained so far and she flipped out, I cannot workout like I used too (running) and I just have that "fat girl out of control" feeling. I was hoping it was all in my head...

This is reassuring, thank you! I intend to breast feed so I hope that helps

Why can't you continue running? Did your doctor say you weren't allowed to or just a precaution on your part?

Good to hear that walking helps! I am one of those people that feels like if a workout doesn't kick my ass then I am not doing anything, stupid I know...

I throw up for one,but that's just me being a wussy    But,the doc said no running until they figure out what the problem is with my placenta, he said that he is "hesitant"to say that I have an abruption, but no running and no lifting over 25 pounds until my next u/s (tomorrow), I have had three bleeding scares so I guess he is being extra cautious

OH!! Well then I would be cautious as well! What about cycling? Or swimming? Elmendorf has a pool at the base gym that's decent.

LOL, That's funny you say that, you must have been stationed here! It'sbeen closed for about a month now, first filter problems and now feces contamination...ewwww...but yeah, I love the water aerobics class and actually used to teach it! I have not done cycling, I tried spinning and WOW, those girls that do it pregnant rock! I have been doing 1 hour of yoga five days a week, and walking between 3 and 6 miles a day 4 days a week and still I am piling on the weight?!? The only thing I can figure that really messed me up is that I didn't eat processed carbs-sugar, white flour, pastaetc. for like two years and then all I could get down was white bread and noodles for like the first 4 months, I think it all went to my ass   Since then I eat like I have been, egg whites, oatmeal, protein shakes and veggies...weight is still creeping upward..

Yah, we were there for three years and of course when I started to go to the gym on base, they started the reno's! I used to go to the ghetto gym that was in the old comissary. It's good your at least doing something to help keep the weight off. I bet it didn't help that you ate all of those things when your body wasn't used to eating them. But like you said you're back on track. I think the only thing you can do is continue what you're doing now, then when you have your baby, you can workout like you used to. I understand not wanting to gain weight with the pregnancy. My doc said it would've been fine if I didn't gain any weight (or even lost a little) because I wasn't eating well or exercising much before and was overweight. I ended up losing 10 lbs by the time I was 5 months but then hubby and I PCS'ed out of there and we were on the road for 3 months, so I had no opprtunity to exercise or eat well. By the time I had my daughter, I had gained 45 lbs, including the 10 I had lost. So, needless to say, I am the heaviest I have ever been but haven't really been doing anything to help it.
I hope your weightgain doesn't get you down. I know you worked really hard to lose it in the first place. Remember it's for a good cause and it won't continue after you give birth!!
