Laughing Gas? For Labor?

posted 16th Jun
Hey yall - I just got done birthing #3 this morning..

Labor was progressing so fast when I came in that I didn't have any time to get an epi so instead I was given some nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help take the edge off those horrible contractions..

I think it did it's job for the most part but DAMN was I loopy during and afterwards.. lol - I'll have to post some of the crazy things I said while under the influence later in my labor story but..

Until yesterday i'd never heard of it as a pain mitigation method.. Anyone else had the stuff (and NOT @ the dentist)?

Congrats on the new munchkin!
About the laughing gas...I didn't know they still did that. My grandma was given laughing gas 51 years ago when my dad was born. She still tells stories about how loopy it made her.

congratulations

my brother was given strawberry laughing gas when he had a minor surgery, the snipped underneath his tongue to help aide with his.. speech impediment I guess? he had trouble pronouncing R's properly... so not quite dental and I know it's totally different from labor lol but I guess it can be used to dull multiple kinds of pain.
