Does anyone here have TMJ disorder?

posted 16th Jun
I'm pretty sure I have it.. It hurts like hell. Worse than any labor pain. Its too late to call and make an appointment to have my jaw looked at and I don't have anyone to watch Sebastian so I can go to the hospital to get some kind of relief.

Anyone know of any ways to ease the pain? This crap sucks.

What is TMJ disorder? I'm sorry you're in pain.

My doctor told me I have it- although I don't have the pain that you are experiencing right now. I'm sorry you're in pain... have you tried taking a pain killer like an Aleve or Tylenol or something? At least until you can get an appoinment?

I had it in high school, but I don't remember what I did to get rid of the pain. I ended up buying a mouth guard to wear to bed to stop me from grinding my teeth and clenching my jaw. It worked! But I can't remember what I did for the pain before that.

oh wait... is your jaw not locked up? if not, be glad. try a warm compress anyway... it will help relax the jaw. and try not to eat anything really tough like beef jerky or bagles...

Does your jaw click a lot? Mine will do that whenever I eat hamburgers or open my mouth really wide. It's loud when it goes back into place

I've taken ibuprofen, tylenol, and naproxen. I've done warm compresses, they help for about 5 minutes.

I have a lorcet that a friend gave me but I'm not to keen on taking illegal scripts. I might end up caving though.. hurts so bad.

Yes it does.. A lot of times I cant open my mouth all the way. Its just on my right side. It causes the whole right side of my head and neck to throb.. like someone is stabbing my.

I have it... I have almost no cartilidge in my jaw.. I get severe headaches and pain behind my eyes because of it and I can definitely understand what you're going through. Tylenol does absolutely nothing for me.. the best non-prescription pain relievers to me are Aleve and Advil. The Advil PM works really well for me because I can't sleep when it starts hurting. But if I were you, I would take the pain pill your friend gave you. Hope you start feeling better soon.
