Baby girl name help

posted 15th Jun
So, I need help. These are our top three names and my husband and I can not decide/agree! Madilynn was our original name we picked (Madi) but we have a daughter named Kaitlyn and I just felt like it was too much "Lyn". I love Norrah- I think it's super cute and classy. My husband isn't sold on it. I threw the middle name of Charlotte in there b/c that was his grandmother and I thought it might sway him to my side (lol). Olivia is a name I really like as well but I just don't know! Opinions would be great! Thanks!

I was going to say I liked Madilynn the best. But, once I read you have a Kaitlyn already. My first choice has changed to Olivia.

Well looking at the poll apparently most people like Olivia. I guess I'm pretty much a loner on the love of "Norrah".

I perfer Norrah. Olivia is insanely popular right now & if you are looking for something a bit more unique, I would stay away from that name.

Well apparently "Kaitlyn" is super popular and so is "Madilynn" yet I know no one with any of those names. I don't really care what is or isn't popular really as long as I personally don't know a ton of Olivia's, Norrah's etc.if you know what I mean. When we told people we were naming our first daughter Kaitlyn everyone was like "omg thats sooo common" but like I said I didn't and still don't know anyone named Kaitlyn. I do know OF a Madelyn and I know OF an Olivia (friends of friends or friends of friends children). But I liked Norrah for exactly the reason that- you probably won't have 4 Norrah's in your daughter's first grade class! My husband thinks it's too old fashioned and that's why you don't hear it often. Thanks for the input!

I love Norah and Madelyn but, I really don't like your spellings. These names are so sweet and so simple that spelling them different just ruins the name IMO.

I wanted my daughter to be Madelyn Sage but, we had it narrowed down to

Norah Jayne and Piper Sage. Piper won.

Why did you pick to put a double R in Norah and a I and double N in Madelyn????

I went with the double n because to me it looked uneven with just the one.. but thats just me , Im also adding an extra n to cailyn for this baby for the same reason.

but to the op if you and your hunny really like madilynn ( thats the way your spelling it right ) go for it , With our girls they have nicknames
madelynn is maddy and cailynn is going to be callie .. it breaks up the whole to much "Lynn" I think thats why I said earlier that it isnt to much lynn ....

I see. Maybe I'm just too anal these days. I'm such a sucker for proper spellings. esp. of names I love that, when I see it spelled wrong (the way I see it) it drives me crazy. Like I said, they are such sweet and simple spellings that, messing w/them just doesn't seem right.

Then again, I droped a T out of Elliott because, I thought double L and double T was too many double letters.

Check out some baby name websites. Madilyn is a common spelling of that name- I added the extra N b/c I don't want it to look exactly like my daughter Kaitlyn's name. And Norrah is also not a wild spelling. It's listed right on top under variations of the name.

Yeah we call out daughter "Kaitlyn" Kait, Kaito or Kaity. If we pick Madilynn we will call her Madi most of the time.
