I know that people have posted this topic before but I never read it because I wasn't close to my due date but now that I am I was wondering if you have had it done before or know someone who did, how did it work out and also was it painful and would you do it again. Thank you in advance for responding.
I had it done. It worked, labor started 9 hours later. Didn't hurt really except that she really had to dig in far. I was 5-6 cm dilated at 39 weeks. Yeah I think I would again as long as I was starting to dilate. I think it would depend on how I felt at the time. I wouldn't mind dilating a little more and having like a 2 hour labor lol.
Well I was about 38 weeks and 3 days when I had it done. I was only 2 cm 80% effaced at the time. To me it felt just like getting checked with maybe a tiny bit more pressure. So I didnt find it to be too painful, just more uncomfortable than anything. I had cramping and uncomfortableness that night....next day I had contractions that weren't really regular enough the next day, and the day after that, my water broke and I went into labor. Good luck
I had my membranes stripped. I didn't even know the doctor had did it. I thought I was just being checked for dilation. It didn't hurt. 11 hours after getting them stripped I went into labor.
Thank you all for replying. I had to leave home to get my brakes fixed at my moms but I was anxious to get home and see what advice you ladies had for me. My dr. hasn't mentioned it yet but I was 1cm last week so maybe I'm a little more but I am so tired. My hormones are raging, I can't sleep, he is heavy and I get these pains up and down my back. I've had contractions but I think they were just braxton hicks, they were so irregular. I finally finished working so I'm ready, plus anxiety is starting to set in and my hubby is VERY uptight so I think we are just ready for baby. I'm going to discuss this with her at my appt tomorrow.
