My daughter always slept WAY better on her tummy ever since she was born. My mom told me all her kids did too..... I am not paranoid so I let her do it, she's fine. I would lay her on her back if I was putting her down after she was asleep, but putting her to sleep in her crib, the only way was if she was on her tummy and I patter her back to sleep. Once she was three months old or so, she'd roll to hertummy anyways, no matter how I laid her down. I dont think its a big deal personally. Somebody may freak out about this though... who knows? LOL

Personally, I think there are a LOT of other factors involved in Sids deaths that are much more important than sleep position. Otherwise the inherent wisdom that babies randomly die when they sleep on their stomachs would be known in every culture, and been passed down as wisdom through the centuries. I've done alot of reaseach on the subject as well.

Yes a lot of factors do play a part in SIDS. BUT sleeping on there tummys causes them to sleep deeper (thats why most babies sleep better on their tummy) therefore causing the babies to forget to breathe and such. Not worth it in my book just to have them sleep better. Sleep positioner for me until my babies can roll.

Some people think they know better. I'd like to see a doctor who tells them to ignore SIDS prevention tips, regardless of how much "research" they had done
They proved smoking causes cancer but I dunno, I did some research and I don't think it does...

Tummy sleeping increases the chance of SIDS. I wouldn't risk it until he's old enough to roll himself on his tummy.

My son slept on his tummy, when I asked my Dr about it he said it was ok. When we were babies we were put to sleep on our tummies. Noone really knows what causes SIDS. I think if you feel it is the best way for your son to sleep go for it, you are his mother.

My son hasALWAYS slept on his tummy since he knew how to roll over. If I turn him around, he rolls over to his tummy immediately.
