19 months and still not talking!

posted 13th Jun
My son is just about 19 months old and he still isn't really talking. He says a few things like, "wow", "Whats that" (he doesnt know what it means tho) and the usual like mama and dada. But really thats all. O and he just started saying no. Now he can communicate still to us whathe wants and everything by pointing and hand gestures, and he understands almost everything that I'm saying and he is very intelligent and has done a lot ofthings early, except this. I've even tried sounding every word out and almost anything else. I've also had like full convo's to him since he was born. I'm one of those mothers that is always talking to their kids like their gonna talk back, but he just won't talk back and I'm starting to get kinda nervous. Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know if it's normal? Also any suggestions?

Oh believe me I am not rushing it lol!! I couldn't wait for him to walk and regreted it when he started running circles on me. I've also heard that boys usually talk later than girls and girls walk later than boys do (not always obviosly) I guess I'm mostly concerned because my friends son still wasn't talking by the time he was 2 and they found out he had autism. He still understood everything, but can't talk. Even tho I'm pretty sure he's not autistic (I know a lot of kids who are autistic) it just caused me to worry a little. But I think your right "pregnant with my mom" and "Deanna" I think he's prob just lazy with it because he can communicate so well without talking. I just didn't know if it was common because I know a lot of people with kids around his age or younger that can say a lot and can say some of their ABC's and stuff.
