Newborn Baby's Hair when they first come out

I hope this isn't a super stupid question and doesn't come off as offensive or racist. I'm just really curious. Are all babies born with somewhat straight hair when they first come out? My DB is half black and has a little sister who is full black. He claims that both of them were born with straight hair, and got curlier as they grew older, so he says he's certain our baby will come out with straight hair, especially when mine is stick straight. Is that possible? I've read that straight hair is actually a recessive gene and curly hair is dominant. I've honestly never seen a African American newborn baby before, so I have no reference at all. Can someone tell me what to expect?

I have curly and hubby has straight, and sam was born with straight too.

I hope this doesn't come off as stalkerish weird or anything. I just want to say your avi is beautiful. That is a great picture of you and you look wonderful, pregnancy has definitely agreed with you!

Um, I think she wants to know about African American babies.

My bf is black and he had straight hair, and his daughter had straight hair when she was born and at 6 months old she started getting tight locks, But both were born with straight hair...

My daughter is Half Black and Half white and her hair was super straight when she was born , it is finally starting to curl up . But my boyfriends siblings and himself they are fully black and had super straight hair when they was born .

both my babies came out with wavy hair and now its straight

I'm half black and was born with straight hair and its crazy curly now. My hubby has straight hair and my daughter was born with a head full of straight hair. My nephew is half black and had straight hair at birth but a few months before his first birthday it started curling. And now at almost 2 his head is full of curls.

I' ve seen more african american babies born w/ curly hair. My best friend is mixed (husband black) and their baby didnt have much hair at first but it was straight, and as the little boy got older (a month or so) it turned curly.

I think it is dominant though so if I had to guess, more than likely your baby will end up with curly hair. Anything is possible though....

no hun thats not a racist or stupid question at all..if you dont kow something your suppose to ask right?well im fully black and i was born wit straight hair.my hair isnt curly but over time it became wavy.so i have natural wavy hair.i will post a pic of me when i was a day old so you can see if you like!

I have pretty wavey hair and hubby, when he grows it out has a brillo pad on his head LOL both of our kids were born w/fine straight hair. Piper had a lot more than Elliot.

Elliot is now 3 and if we grow it out he looks like shirley temple   I look forward to his long haired teen days. hubby won't let me grow his hair out any more "he's a big boy and needs to keep a big boy hair cut"  hubby doesn't understand that lil girls looooove lil boys w/a curly mop of blond hair  

well asian gene is very doment!!all the asian mixed babies i have seen are stick straight up hair!!my daughter and sonare half mexican and half white and there hair was straight but very fricken thick and now it is thin all kids are diff doesnt matter bout race thats the joys of being preg wondering what he or she is going to look like!!!!
