Wasn't sure where to put this

Okay, so I got Palmolive ECO Dishwasher Liquid Detergent Citrus Apple Splash...and OMG IT WREAKS! My dishes end up smelling super nasty after I wash them  
I literally almost gag every time I open the dishwasher after I run it. Ugh.

ANYWAY! Any suggestions on what kind to get next time? I can't afford like 20$ for a thing of soap...but something has got to smell better than this!
It can be tabs or liquid...and another thing...what's a good cleaner thing to run in it to make sure it's clean?

Um...why do you want your dishes to smell like ANYTHING?

Just use Finish or Cascade regular stuff!!!
And Jet Dry to get rid of water spots.


As for cleaning the smelly dishwasher, vinegar and baking soda!!!
1 cup of each. Pour into bottom. Turn on. Forget it.


The idea of a scented dishwasher soap is strange to me. Dishes aren't porous. They don't absorb scents. Which means they rinse away soon after. So it's just more chemicals for NO reason.

We use Cascade Complete tabs. We buy the tub of 'em... I think it's like 60 tabs for around $14.

Cascade tabs here. I don't care if they smell like anything other than clean. They just need to do what they were invented for.

we buy the cheapie stuff at dollar tree. Its a dollar...and smells citrusy but not icky smelling. My dishes come out smelling like dishes?

I'll have to look into Cascade tabs...

And I don't care what it smells like honestly...that's just the one they had that was cheap and I needed dish soap. I just wanted dishes that smelled clean...not worse than when I put them in the washer in the first place

Every time I'm done with a dish I scrub it with Seventh Generation dish soap, stick it in the dish washer, and just run the cycle when it's full.

I don't sniff my dishes so I have no idea what they smell like, lol.

we use the kroger brand ones the tabs? and they smell nice

The smell of vinegar makes me sick...I spent much of my childhood with my hair soaking in it to get rid of the lice I got at my dad's house

Apple cider vinegar is a different smell than regular vinegar.

You said money was an issue and it doesn't get cheaper than that, so....

Money is tight...but gagging every time I open the dishwasher is the problem I have with the dish soap I have now, so vinegar won't help any
