Why is he like this?

posted 23rd Mar
So this is my 3rd baby, and my hubby does not want to touch my belly, talk to it or anything, he said it makes him feel awkward. I understand the talking to it, but when he cuddles me in bed he avoids my belly completely he will not touch it at all. He touched my belly with my first which is our first boy, this 3rd one is a boy and our 2nd is a girl. What I don't get is how he can sit on the toilet and smurf and ask me to come here and talk to him while he is doing this and its not awkward, but something as simple as touching my pregnant belly is, wth is with this?

fetus' freak some people out.

they don't grow people inside of their body so it's not something that all of them can comprehend without getting weirded out.

His confidence could also be lower for some reason which is making him feel stupid feeling your belly.

My dad thinks pregnancy is disgusting. My mom told me when she was pregnant with my sister and I, he never touched her belly.

I can see how maybe he is feeling self conscious, due to him being depressed he has been out of a job for almost a year. I never thought about that tho.

I'll never understand men's logic. My husband rarely touches my belly, but when we cuddle if I don't have my belly up against him, he asks where it went. But otherwise he don't like to touch it. unless everyone else is touching it, then he does it acting all goofy. He don't talk to my belly, either. (But does kiss it evedy morning lol) idk.

That makes a lot of sense.

He probably feels like half a man not being able to provide for his family, but then dealing with impregnating you which shows his masculinity, but he's still struggling with feeling like less of a man.....

Ikr, my hubby did it once with this one jokingly. But he never kisses it lol. I love touching it. But it seems like the true awkward things to him is normal, like with my first 2 kids, he tried my breast milk and loved it. idk he is a odd one lol.

My husband is weird. He thinks I'm even more beautiful than ever pregnant, but he won't go anywhere near touching my belly because it's "creepy" lol

Yeah, that could totally be it. I just didn't want to jump to the conclusion that he could be favoring my our first child, even though yes he is special being the first, but doesn't mean he is more favorable. I was just trying to comprehend his thinking lol and you have given me insight to the issue and I thank you.

If he didn't do it with your second pregnancy either, then he probably just kind of feels like he's been there already you know? Like he knows what a pregnant belly feels like so he doesn't need to touch it all the time since he did it the first time around. And he may just not like the movement and such. SO would always get freaked out if he had his hand on my belly and DS would kick him.

Yes, thats possible too. He does get aggravated at night when my belly is against his back and the baby kicks him in the back lol, I dont blame him he does have back issues, but hey I cant help it I'm conked out lol.
