I sent a dr. When I took her and every other day she has missed I have called and told them why she will be missing.

She was not exposed to many kids before kindergarten, I know she has no immune system and that's why she's getting sick.

I get that I'm not suppose to send her when she is sick which is why she has missed 12 days already. That day that I sent her was her tenth day and when I called they gave me heck so I gave her med. and took her to school and then 40 min. Later they had me come get her. What's pissing me off if that they are getting onto me about not sending her even when I say she's sick but then she goes to school and the teacher, (the school nurse was not there that day) takes her temp and then she excused to go home. Why is it ok if the teacher says she's sick but not when I do? That's what frustrating.

We will have full insurance on April 1st when DH starts full time. We make to much money to get Medicaid but still $200 is a lot especially when there's nothing a doctor will do about it.

no they dont

Sometimes (see below), but probably not. Croup is usually mild and will go away on its own in most cases. Since it's probably caused by a virus, antibiotics won't help.

Thanks you! And I called and discussed this with her doctor, it wasn't a terrible case, she didn't need to be seen but she also didn't need to go to school.

There are ways to take your child to the Dr (without insurance) and not pay $200 each time. I know because I did it for a short time. You bet your ass my Son would be seen before I'd get in trouble for his unexcused absences, regardless of him being very ill.

Would you please enlighten me on those ways, I'd gladly take her if I didn't have to pay so much.

Call around and tell them you are "cash pay". There are plenty of places that are extremely discounted for people who do not have insurance. Tell the Dr you do not have insurance and they can look on the Wal Mart $4 prescription list. Also, some clinics do a sliding scale which is based on income (and that's how the determine how much to charge you).

I have called around, the most a place will do is let me pay payments which is fine but ends up being expensive and a waste because she's never even needed prescriptions. There is one place that would do a sliding scale and was $170 something for the visit. I mean, if she needed to go, I'd take her and pay it. Fine. But to take her, pay 200 dollars, just for a note from a. Doctor seems is annoying and a waste of money IMO.

I agree. It's just that with the school you're sort of in a tough position.

It seems to me like my son is sick every other week with something new. Last week he had a stomach virus and this week he had an eye infection in BOTH eyes. I tend to keep him home quite a bit but his school basically tells you if they are feeling ok (running around playing) its ok to send them sick. I kept him home one day for the eye infections to take him to the Dr. His Dr note stated he had to go back the very next day. Even though he was on 2 different antibiotics.

if my kids have a fever or say their stomach hurts i let them stay home. that is about all. even a tiny fever but usually the fever comes after a stomach hurting so its all the same here lol.
and my son stayed home when he had the croup.

Can't you call your family doctor and get him/her to write you a note?

I know here I can call my Dr and he'll usually fax over a note to my work/daughters school if needed.

Without her going in? Idk, I've never thought to ask, I just assumed since she didn't go in she didn't get a note.

There are places that you can go in and get a doctors visit for super cheap. Like the clinics inside walmart and walgreens.

Lily was almost held back she missed so much school in kindergarten but she was caught up enough to not warrant it. I also needed doctors notes. Doctors notes will save your butt... if you dont have any then you dont have proof she was really sick.
