If you live in/have lives in Arkansas, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word Harrison?

Lmao.... I was.watching a documentary on the KKK and they were talking about their headquarters being in Harrison Arkansas. People from Arkansas referred to Harrison as a son downtown, meaning that people of color are scared of being in that town after dark. It said that it's a predominantly white town and people of color stay away from there because of the extreme racism. Have you heard anything about Harrison Arkansas? Have you ever been there?

no i have not. i moved here at 5 years old and i have never heard about that and i havent been there either. my town Sherwood (right near little rock) used to have a BAD rep about the police being VERY racist and was even nicknamed "the whitest town around" years back. its not like that anymore. we have a very diverse community now and the police have gotten much better too.

The population there is about 14,000.
The kids in the highschool (which has only 2 minority students, both biracial..) said that when people called them ni**ers, that it didn't really bother them because they were so used to it...

wow... i dont even use that word at all. and i get pissed off when someone i know uses it. that is terrible though. i know there are really some racist people in arkansas. i just do not associate myself with them EVER. that goes for any race too. not just racist white people. i prefer to avoid anyone who is racist to any race (mexican to black, black to whites, ect)

There was the lady on there who had just moved into town after her divorce. She had 2 children that were biracial (they were beimg interviewed and CRYING about what was happening to them every day...) and we're getting picked on in school and called names. She was saying "idk what to do about it, all I can do is pray and hope that things work out for the best.." ?
Wtf? I would MOVE! There's no way I would move somewhere with biracial children and their being picked on in school, and nobody in the school was doing anything about it.. And she's just "gonna pray and hope it doesn't affect them too much", ?? EFF that! :-/

ugh yea i would move too my kids are all biracial. half mexican. if they were getting teased and nothing was being done i would move too. where i live most of my kids classes are mixed with asian, hispanic, black, white and the mixed ones that only their parents can say what exactly they are LOL. so far my children have never had any problems with being teased because of their race.

IDK much about Harrison. I know I met someone right outside to sell something on CL.
I also know that DH told me to never go there by myself(I'm half black).
I guess I know why after reading this
