son fell, does he need a tetanus shot?

Okay i dunno if I'm crazy or validated, and I don't really care at this point since I'm worried.

We went over to my trailer (that is currently being remodeled) and the flooring is ripping up in certain spots. We were trying to keep my almost 3 year old away from everything but he got away, ran, tripped, and fell with his hands on the carpet tacks. They went in about a quarter to a half inch in and he bled a little bit and cried some but now seems to be okay. He's had all his shots but his two year ones. Should I rush him to the after hours clinic?

Tetanus shot is good for 5 yrs I think. But that may only be once you've completed the series. Idk.

So he has never had tetanus shots before? Eh I would get it done just to be safe. Tetanus spores can live just about anywhere. Doesn't matter if it was rusty or not.

Has he already has his tetanus shot? (i don't know when they get them) but if your Pedi has an on call nurse you can just call and ask that way if you don't need to rush him to an after hours clinic you don't have to.

I dont know if I would "rush" him in.
Maybe call his pedi and see what they suggest or just make an appointment for tomorrow.

A DTaP vaccine is given to most children at two, four, and six months of age. A fourth dose of DTaP is given between 15 and 18 months (17-20 months for Daptacel), and a fifth dose is given at age four to six years. PediarixTM can only be given for the first three doses a child receives. TriHIBit is only licensed for use as a booster dose for children 15-18 months of age. Pentacel is not licensed for use in children over 4 years of age.
