Department of Treasury debt?

So I received a letter a few days ago from the Department of Treasury, and apparently I owe them 173.88$ 
It doesnt say for what, just that my unpaid debt has been referred for collection and then all the information to make out a check. Im on hold with them right now, trying to figure out what the hell this is about, but it just seems strange to me. I havent received any other letters or phone calls about this, which could just be that my mom never gave them to me since they might have been sent to her house. Not sure why they would have since ive been living in my current residence for almost a year, but its the only logical reason I can think of that I wouldnt have received anything, besides a mistake on there part.
I did cash some savings bonds last year, but that is the only thing I could possibly think of that might have triggered this from the department of treasury. Anyone receive a similar letter? Im so lost right now  

Dept of Treasury? Isn't that taxes?

Did you pay taxes on those savings bonds that you cashed in when you filed your income tax?

They came after me in 2010 for something back in 05/06....sometimes they don't catch things for years

humm, maybe its a scam? Or maybe you have something like personal property taxes you didnt pay from a few years ago. I would definitely call until you speak to someone

This was my first year filing taxes at all, my husband filed the year before, and we didnt have any property to claim either year. But im definitely going to keep calling till someone can explain this to me.
