posted 21st Mar
Okay so my son in three months old we co slept until about a week ago he now sleeps in his crib perfectly. He has reflux so I had layed down a pillow and a blanket over it to keep him elevated but now I'm hearing this is unsafe and just lay them flat on there backs with no blankets did you do this

yes

eta: if continues to spit up, the crib mattress can be elevated without risk

They have pillows that are in the shape of wedges, and you can put that under his crib mattress.

If he has diagnosed reflux, it's different. Did you pedi tell you to lay him elevated?

This

Or you can use just about anything to elevate one end (a big blanket folded up or something) just be sure it can't tip to one side if he rolls. Or you can let him sleep in a swing or bouncer.

My son had reflux as well and I would put blankets under one end of the mattress but I didnt see much improvement. I bought a rock and play sleeper which worked wonders for us. Good luck to you and your son!

No it isn't

It just depends upon the severity

Which is why I asked if that's what her pediatrician recommended.

Even if it's diagnosed reflux, it's still safer to put something under the mattress to elevate it rather than in the crib with the baby.

SIDS risks don't disappear b/c the baby has reflux.

It's always best to lay them flat

When DS' acid reflux was at its worst, we just put the mattress at an angle in the crib. There's three notches on both sides so you can adjust the height of it; we kept the end his head would be at the highest level and lowered the opposite end to its lowest level. That's how the bed was at the children's hospital he had to stay in for the reflux, except it was super fancy and could raise/lower with the touch of a button. You can get one of those beds but they're super expensive. The mattress sloping down works just as well though.

dd slept in her swing until she was 7 months and 1 day. it helped a ton. If you want to elevate the crib put the pillow underneath the mattress.
