Cheap Cheap Cheap!

posted 21st Mar
OK, I am pregnant with twins. I already have three kids. I need some ideas on how to prepare for these two new LOs on the cheap! I'm a semi-natural parent, and am willing to explore all kinds of options!

I've had 3 very unsuccessful attempts with breastfeeding, but plan to try that again anyway this time around. Any tips on how to improve milk supply? Things I can do to prepare for it? Different techniques, anything!

Cloth diapering? Feasible? How many of you do it? What diapers do you use? I've only used disposables thus far, but I'm feeling like putting a bunch of money out upfront is going to be cheaper than spending 80/mo on diapers for two for a minimum of 2 years.

Any other ideas? Please! Send them! I'm trying to pool as many resources and ideas as possible NOW so that I can be completely prepared when the time comes!

Buy used, try out couponing (I saved $88 the other week) and see if there's a local garage sale like page on facebook for where you live. There's one for my town and people are always posting baby stuff!

I don't see how when I go somwhere like children's place or kohls with a coupon and clearance clothes I save more money than if I shop at good will or once upon a child etc.

I really have smurffy luck at consignment sales

I generally buy clothes used, or on sale, and buy for other seasons the year ahead when they go on clearance. I'm a pro at that stuff now! It's everything else! lol

That's what I do. The consignment store a few towns over was having a out of business sale & I got all of LOs clothes half off. Spent a hundred dollars and he has clothes to last him till 18months

I dont know if you have any where you live but around here there are a few stores that are really nice used baby stores they basically let you "trade" clothes. so once they are out of newborn you could trade those for 0-3 months or 3-6 or whatever I know they do cash too but give you way more store credit. I know thats in the same idea as clothes. and STORE BRAND everything...I used what I got from my babyshower in the begining which was basically pampers which I did love but once I realized how much they were costing me I switched to store brand. Or even buying in bulk like BJS or Sams Club help.

We have one store that does consignment, I sadly haven't been there in awhile, but should see if they'll do "trade"... That could be pretty helpful!

I'm not only concerned about the cost of diapers over a 2-3yr period for 2kids, but the amt of trash I'm sending out that will take forever to biodegrade. I'm thinking cloth diapering will be my best bet to avoid that, and it just adds a few more loads of laundry to my weekly to-do, which isn't as bad.

I have never used cloth diapers but the few people I know that have used cloth for the most part , at home and whatnot, and while they were out they used disposable
