Why do we always say its teething :vent:

I am so tired of hearing my baby is teething and that is why he is so cranky or your child is teething and that is why she is running a fever. Lets move past this teething crap and make sure there is nothing else wrong with the baby before we put it in the teething category. Because guess what my daughter suffered for 3 days with the nurse telling me oh she is teething that is causing her fever and it turns out that I was right my poor baby was really sick. ITS NOT ALL SmUrfING DUE TO TEETHING!

You should only rule it out to teething after ALL other possiblilties have been ruled out.

I agree, I hate that too.

Everyone says the same smurf when I tell them my 9 month old has sleeping issues. Teething since birth for 9 months, hmm yeah okay. And no hint of a tooth. So I totally get where you're coming from. Hope she feels better soon!

Well this also stems from another post I was commenting on earlier her son was cranky and none of the teething medicine was helping and I was like umm did you ever think that it wasn't teething.

Exactly my daughter broke in 4 teeth without even a 1 degree raise in temperature and she was running a 100-101 degree fever for 3 days and it was teething wtf

There's other signs then just a fever and being cranky that would suggest teething. Some times mother's just know something is wrong and keep pushing for a result.

yea i agree everyone kept telling me that he was teething and thats why he wasnt sleeping at all for 2 months now

I had the same problem and again they kept saying it was teething but she had already broken in her top two teeth when it started. Not everything can be put into the teething category. If your baby isn't sleeping or is fussy or has a fever they should look at other things before they say its teething.

yea exactly i switched my sons doctor cause they werent doing anything for him cause he has eczema really bad and has been sounding raspy since birth and he was a horrible baby he was cranky all the time and nothing helped. I finally switched his pediatrician and she helped him and told me hes not sleeping cause he probably has a sleeping disorder and alot of other stuff and i was so thankful for someone to actually help me

Wow that is crazy. Yeah they kept telling me teething and my daughter had flu like symptoms. I finally just took her to urgent care and it turned out she was really sick.

My daughter chews on stuff a lot, and has since she could hold things...and I hear "she's teething" ALL THE FLIPPIN' TIME! She doesn't sleep well at night, never has...it's teething. She gets cranky, she's teething.

I definitely feel ya on that one! She's 7 months and not a single tooth in site. She's NOT EFFIN TEETHING! There's not even any bumps on her gums yet.

thats my 6 month old to he chews on everything but hes not teething his gums arent even white. Hes just a horrible sleeper. My 2 year old has basically all his teeth and he still chews on everything has since hes been 2 months old so am i suppose to blame that on teething as well.

I may be a first time mom, but it's pretty obvious she's not teething. I just want to freak out on people sometimes. I feel her gums every once and a while to check...there are definitely no teeth coming in yet. She just loves to chew. Especially on tags.
